1. Happens, but it could be worse.

   I get quoted — all too often — as being the source of some of my characters’ favorite quotes, particularly “I’m a simple man. All I want is enough sleep for two normal men, enough whiskey for three, and enough women for four.” Well, it’s 2/3 correct, but . . . the 2/3 aren’t the women thing one of the others . . .

2. I’m assuming you’d like to be pitched out of a helicopter like the turkeys on WKRP (Les Nessman style) – could be dangerous for people.

   I hope I’m remembered for:
   1. Perception IS reality
   2. You can only be bothered by the opinion of people you respect
   3. You will never get MORE respect than you give, you will often get less, but never more.
   4. Kindness, decency and honesty are not vices – while some people genuinely don’t understand them and so refuse to acknowledge them – but that doesn’t make them less real or valuable.

   I would hope I’m not remembered for silly things but we don’t always get what we ask for. I’ll probably not be remembered in 100 years except by my family.. and I can’t really say I know anyone who will be other than Walter Mondale (whom I met – but hardly know) and maybe Tony Oliva -a neighbor.
