Be Careful What You Wish For

Mark Dayton demanded that the GOP’s “Trackers” wear some sort of attire to distinguish themselves from all the other people gathered around him.

It’s part of his two-week old whinge against the recent college grads with flipcams who’ve been recording the things he says on the campaign trail to be checked against things he says elsewhere, in case he promises things to people in Bemidji that he eschews in the Twin Cities.

Now, I’m not sure what all his fuss is about.  Trackers aren’t hard to spot under any circumstances; they’re the youngish people with the video cameras.

For example, here’s “Zack”, the DFLer (poli sci grad from Macalester, not that that was a huge shock) we met at Tom Emmer’s SD54 Picnic appearance last week:

Zack, DFL tracker covering Tom Emmer at the SD54 picnic last week.

Notice the boredom; he’s seen the speech a time or two.  That’s another common “tell” for trackers.

Not to mention the friggin’ flip cam.

Still, the MNGOP is all about the help.  Here, according to Michael Brodkorb, are the new tracker uniforms:

You’re welcome, Senator Dayton.

No, don’t mention it.

  1. Tooooo funny!

The other option would be for them to travel in pairs and one of them could hold a sign that says “GOP Trackers,” with arrows pointing to each of them!

  2. I love it, Brodkorb is a fricking marketing genius. You should sell them at the Patriot stands and just have people rotate in shifts standing over by the DFL booth. Passive agressiveness doesn’t have to be something the left does best, we can too.

  3. “Zak” is a poli-Sci major at Macalester? Hmmm, and his minor? Enviromental Justice? World Citizen? Transgenderism Studies?

  4. So, do the Michele Bachmann trackers get to follow her in to her big speeches at places like the Ammunitions plant? The one where she bans all photos, videos and other recordings?

What exactly is your little conservative darling so afraid of – other than being caught talking crazy (again)?

How free are those freedoms she talks about – and apparently gives only lip service, but not real action?

  5. DG,

I wasn’t aware that Michele Bachmann had just spent a week whining publicly about the depredations of trackers.

    Please illuminate.

  6. DogGone, if Mrs. Bachmann goes to the ammunition plant, it isn’t her that bans photos. It’s the owners of the ammunition plant. Banning cameras and recording devices in general is standard procedure for most any facility that does manufacturing.

You want pictures of the event? You are going to share the negatives, you are going to tell what camera you are going to use, and you will put the tripod exactly where the owners/managers tell you it will go. If you don’t, or if they simply don’t like you, you will be told to leave.

    Don’t blame Bachmann for that.

  7. Dg is just upset that the cardboard cut out of Dayton is more lifelike than the Candidate and makes more sense.

  8. You know DG, it might be a good idea if you instituted a program of computer silence on Fridays.

I mean, it can’t be good to start the weekend waking up every Saturday with a pounding hang-over headache knowing you made an ass of yourself….again.

Some examples, please? Or is this just a dumpbachmann style attack without any support?
