Offense

By Mitch Berg

I was thinking about the DFL’s engineered flap over the donations Target, Best Buy, Red Wing Shoes, Davisco, Polaris and Hubbard Broadcasting made to MNForward, a pro-Emmer PAC that’s had the temerity to run advertising on Emmer’s behalf.

I found the word I’m looking for:  Offensive.

I don’t know what offends me more, though.  Is it that the DFL…:

  • … is (news flash) lying (as usual)?  Emmer is not “anti-gay”; that’s just your standard Alinski 101 framing?
  • … is trying so hard to manufacture outrage over corporate donations while they take millions a year from outrage-proof institutions – unions and plutocrats?
  • …that they think so many Minnesotans are so stupid that they’d buy it?
  • …that, in over 50% of the cases (especially in the metro) they’ll be right?
  • …that our “elite” media is eating this crap up for exactly the reason they were intended to eat it up; because the DFL has nothing else to talk about.

As re that last one?  That may be the worst.  The DFL really doesn’t have anything in the idea department.  I’ll prove it, and you can too:  ask any DFLer for a positive idea; watch them respond “I’m POSITIVE I hate Target!”, or something to that effect.

It’s good news for November, of course – but in the short term, it’s killing my blood pressure, and in the long term having to share a society with people like this can’t be good for a nation.

Perhaps there’s a T-shirt idea for the GOP; “The DFL:  The party that thinks you’re a not-to0-bright drama queen”.

Maybe we can hand ’em out at the fair.

It’s worth noting that one very good side of the Supreme Court overturning prohibitions on corporate political donations is that it’s becoming very apparent which party works well with business, and which does not.

I didn’t see any outraged protesters at the Bloomington Target store last night when I visited, but that was at about 8 p.m. so the protesters were most likely all at home getting their latest indoctrination from their propaganda machine. I would like to note that this particular store, employs two cashiers that have physical limitations, one of them is in a wheelchair. It would be nice if the morons crying foul would acknowledge these types of things, as well as the overall contributions Target makes to the communities in which their stores are located, but then, lefties always bite the hands that feed them.

Target would be justified in cancelling their 1. ads in the Red Star, 2. Support of gay pride stuff, 3. support of the Guthrie and everything else, but we all know that this will not happen, because conservatives don’t act that way.

Target and Best Buy both sponser and have booths at the gay pride thing in Minneapolis. They both brag how they want to hire a lot more Gay-Americans. Now, perhaps Gays are better workers than non-gays and steal less from their employers, but more likely those companies are just PC wienies. So the looney left should settle down.

So Red Wing shoes gave also? I’m sure most of you are aware of how unusual it is to still be manufacturing shoes in the US. Most likely Red Wing realizes that if the business climate gets worse, they will have to shift production to China and layoff hundreds at their US plants.

Better t-shirt; The DFL: the party that sent Al Franken to the U.S. Senate.
That pretty much says it all.

These people who wrongly point the finger at the right of center about a lack of tolerance for opposing ideas, are completely intolerant of any group, person or entity that isn’t appropriately ideologically pure. Diversity to them is strictly that people of different ethnicity, color or sexual orientation must think exactly alike. Let’s hope they continue to reject Reagans admonition that if someone agrees with you 80% of the time he’s probably a friend.
