Love Means Never Having To Say “Excuse Me”
By Mitch Berg
Before Algore invented the Internet, he had Tipper were purportedly the models for the book and movie Love Story.
The sequel may not be such a feel good hit:
Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, are separating after 40 years of marriage.
No global warming there…

Their house isn’t big enough for the two of them.

Which house?

They made it 40years, not a bad run for the relationship, and at least they are ending it amicably, and without a scandal triggering it.

I wonder if Tipper rolls here eyes like I do everytime Algore talks.

I blame it on the switch of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO).
“The switch of PDO cool mode to warm mode in 1977 initiated several decades of global warming. The PDO has now switched from its warm mode (where it had been since 1977) into its cool mode. “

At least they are ending it amicably. Yeah, that’s the first thing I think of when people dissolve what was a vow of “Til death do us part”.

Could be the increasing levels of CO2, but more likely falling levels of DHT.

My working assumption is that it was the twinkie. (I don’t have any — any — information that suggests that there is a twinkie, other than that they divorced after so many years.)
I’m not particularly criticizing, mind; by the standards of Oscar winners, that’d grade pretty well.

Presumably she will ask for half the internet in the divorce proceedings….
Any thoughts on whom you’re prefer SITD be owned by?? Tipper or Gore?

Kevin – I imediately thought of Bones McCoy’s quote from the new Star Trek movie: “the ex-wife took the whole damn planet in the divorce.” Al “saved” it for her!

Kermit, my first thought was that it was very sad that after 40 years they could not continue to make their marriage work.
My second thought was that if they had determined to mutually end that commitment, better it was not any more painful or damaging than necessary, for them and for their 4 children. Even an amicable divorce I’m sure is still a painful and difficult decision; for that I am very sorry for them, as I would be for anyone in that situation. As to their vows, I have no idea what they may have pledged to each other; I wasn’t there. Maybe ’til death do us part was included, maybe not.

While I’ll go along with everything DG said, I still think it’s hilarious that they are blaming it on George W. Bush.

Excuse me? (sorry, couldn’t resist) WHO is “blaming their split on “W”?” The news story simply mentioned Gore lost to Bush in 2000, and detailed his subsequent activities; I didn’t see anything about blame.
The only explanation given I’ve seen mentioned they had grown apart and begun to lead completely separate lives…for which I’m sure “W” had no role whatsoever.

Their note ends on a very strange phrase… which ensures its authenticity as a Gore-penned missive:
“We hope to see you soon”

Mitch, in light of the Dog’s comment I feel compelled to pass on the best lesson I learned from a college professor:
“If you have to explain them, they are no good.”
However, I’m not sure my professor read The Onion.

There was a quote that the stress of the 2000 electon was the purported beginning of the end..

I’m curious how they will devide their assets, and will she want alimony?

I still think it’s hilarious that they are blaming it on George W. Bush.
When clearly it is Obammynation’s fault. He raised taxes so much divorce was the only option.

How can you call something that happened ten years ago the beginning of the end……that ten years was 1/4th of the time they were married..
