Robinson?

The number three candidate in the DFL primary race is apparently courting the anchorette from the number three TV newscast. Robyne Robinson is apparently mulling joining the Matt Entenza campaign:

Robyne Robinson, who will leave her longtime post at FOX 9 this week, said Monday that she is considering signing on to be DFLer Matt Entenza’s running mate in the race for Minnesota governor.

But that makes it far from a done deal.

“I’m not saying yes or no to anything yet,” she said, confirming that she has been invited to be on the ticket. “When you’re approached with an offer like this, something very serious, very humbling, you can’t just give a frivolous answer.”

It’d be a good move for Entenza, who’d get access to Channel Nine’s Investigative unit.

  2. It’s an interesting choice. (I’m inferring that Robinson’s sudden departure means that she’s “considering” the gig in the same sense that I’m considering sleeping some time tonight.) She’s well-spoken and high-profile — moreso than any of the other second-seat selections — and seems perfectly capable of waking up every morning and asking, “Hey, is the Governor still breathing?” before going on to do whatever she’s going to go on to do.

  3. Frankly, I’d be a lot more worried if she announced that she was running for the House of Representatives in either the 3rd or 6th Congressional District where her name recognition alone would make her pretty formidable. The second banana on a floundering gubernatorial campaign? Not so much.

  4. If you thought Sandy Pappas was foul-mouthed just wait ’til you catch Robinson in an unguarded moment.

I haven’t heard anything about that but I seem to recall that the last DFL lt. governor candidate got caught in an “unguarded moment” (although she was “tired” rather than “foul-mouthed”) the weekend before the election and Pawlenty was able to win reelection in a year that heavily favored Democrats.
