Obama: “Information Is Ignorance, Peasants”

By Mitch Berg

President condemns ubiquitous dissent:

“You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter,” Obama said at Hampton University, Virginia.

[Like “the only reason not to support Obama is his skin color?” – Ed]

“With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation,” Obama said.

What an incredibly illogical statement – unless by “empowerment”, he means government power.

He bemoaned the fact that “some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction,” in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets.”

All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy.”

In other words, the President doesn’t trust the peasants with all of that crazy infomacation.

Somewhat disingenuous of Chairman Zero to pretend his election wasn’t made possible by targeting votes by the internet, to say nothing of his incredible fundraising. Of course it was all done for a noble cause, not like those carping right wing ideologues, who want to reverse the course of history and put us back in mid- 19th century.

It was all so much easier when Uncle Walter told you “That’s The Way It is.”

  3. Kermit Says:

Yes, all of the cursed information is such a burden. I so long for the good old days when we were all ignorant, women knew their place and colored folk stayed where they belonged.

President Obama doesn’t know how to work an iPod? Two years ago, he was bragging about his playlist:

It’s pretty trivial stuff really, but if anyone on the Right did the same thing–say Palin or Bachmann–the Left would be screaming about it.

Less trivial; Obama doesn’t work online meme?

He didn’t use the ‘net as the backbone of his fundraising and organizing?

He didn’t benefit from the left’s infrastructure of disinformation and propaganda sites?

    Disingenuity at its truthiest.

Yeah, because rumors never got around in The Good Old Days. That whole “gossipy women in the hair salon” thing is a complete stereotype and there never even WAS a witch hunt in Salem.

Chad, Mitch, I hate to break it to you but Barack Obama lies. Through his teeth. Constantly.

Obama’s not a Macsnob. He’s Blackberrified. Remember the big todo about getting his Blackberry secure enough for POTUS duty?

“some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction”

So which is crazier: he knows how to work an iPod, or he doesn’t know how to work an iPod?

He’s worried that folks have alternatives to the MSM spoon fed pabulum, and he should be.

Why do people think saying they’ve never used a device will help their argument that that device is bad?

    information becomes a distraction

Clearly he’s never heard a decent science podcast.

Yeah, the “there’s too much information” argument isn’t going to work on the young folk.
