Sickening

Columbia Missouri police SWAT team charges into a house, kills two dogs as the children in the room look on, act like Nazis…

…and find enough pot for a misdemeanor charge.

Two dogs dead, a guy’s house torn apart, and kids traumatized as their watch their pets killed and their parents hauled off in Black Marias cop cars in the middle of the night…

…and for what?   Are “the streets” safer?  No – in fact, I guarantee you the Columbia PD just created two kids who will hate and distrust law enforcement for the rest of their lives.

Are the drug cartels going away?  No – they kill each other off as part of their marketing drives.  A misdemeanor arrest in Missouri isnt’ even background noise.

Our police are becoming more militarized every day – largely to fight a “war” where the fact we can never win is the least of the problems, compared to civil liberties that our idiots overlords are destroying every day to fight it.

Over marijuana.

Billions for fighting real wars.  Not one more penny for this bullshit.

  2. This family is going to be rich and no one from the PD, Prosecutor’s Office or the Judge is going to be held accountable. Only the taxpayer.

Looks like the NOPD doing house by house searches after Katrina looking for legal guns confiscating them and in some cases arresting the “perps”.

The forth Amendment has been gutted. Largely due to the Drug war. But also the war on terror.

A few years ago I would not have had the same opinion on the drug war. However, with the cost of it becoming less and less palatable I think it is time to take a serious look at our drug laws and more importantly the Fourth Amendment.

  3. There was just no way those guys were going to be able to get that sweet 42″ plasma out the door while dealing with protective pets….the dogs had to go!

The guy’s family is lucky the Columbia PD didn’t have a new APC they needed to try out.

  4. the last part of that link: The sheriff’s office also plans to purchase a $109,000 “underwater remotely operated vehicle with camera systems, manipulator arm, and underwater multi-beam sonar,” the grant application states.

“This project will measurably reduce the risk of an IED being delivered to target by either a small craft or underwater swimmers,” the report continues.

I guess I missed where underwater IEDs have become a problem for boaters on the Mississippi. How can Hennepin and Anoka Counties so brazenly expose their citizens to these same risks while Ramsey county puts PUBLIC SAFETY FIRST??

That’s almost as good as former governor Arne Carlson defending the $2500/squad car custom (brown/maroon) paint job for the MN highway patrol cars as “necessary for other drivers to see them in blizzard conditions”

  5. At one point, right after you hear four gunshots, one of the invading coppers tells his accomplice “settle down”.

That tells me that at least one of them realized he was accompanied by at least one trigger happy nut. Those kids are really lucky they weren’t wearing their bunny pajama’s, and I’m not joking.

I hope this family sues the holy living shit out of those thugs.

  7. The Patron Saint of the modern Conservative movement, William F. Buckley, Jr, pointed out decades ago that drug prohibition now works exactly as alcohol prohibition did then. It’s a government price-support program for criminals.

Aside from its effect on law enforcement, that alone is reason enough for repeal. Treat marijuana the same as whisky and the problem largely goes away.
