Stuart Smalley, Carpetbagger
By Mitch Berg
Brodkorb on the story that should be leading the news every friggin’ evening; four out of every five of Al Franken’s contribs are from out of state!
Would you expect anything less from a man who said his “life” was in New York and who responded to the question “[i]f Paul Wellstone had not died would you have moved back to Minnesota?” with the answer “I am not sure”.
It reminds me of the statistic from the ’02 Senate race, when records showed that the average donation to the Wellstone! campaign was in the very patrician three digits, while Coleman’s campaign’s average contribution was somewhere under $50 – and yet Coleman’s fundraising kept pace with Wellstone.

If it’s good enough for Michele Bachmann, It should be good enough for Al Franken.

Ooh, ooh, I want to play too.
It was also good enough for Wetterling.

Typical middle of the country prejudice. Timid little people who never entertained the thought of leaving their backward burgs want the same from their leaders.
I thought you’d identify more with the carpetbaggers than the defensive, local boosters, Mr. NoDak refugee!

Angry Clown looks out of the window of his Hoboken efficency, sees NYC and sighs. So close to Hillary Clinton, yet so far.

Hey, I have to give Franken credit for being honest with the answer (assuming the true answer isn’t “no”).
There is one Democratic politician knowing for always saying what the audience wants to hear.

Doug, fess up. Are you working on Franken’s campaign?

Nope Paul. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I worked with Ciresi doing litigation support on the breast implant litigation years ago and on assorted trials over the years and I think he’s one of the brightest and capable people I know.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Franken as a writer and satirist and maybe eventually as a candidate but not against Ciresi.

Second, Melendez (Mitch) made a big deal of whether or not Bachmann’s (Frankens) financial support came from the 6th District (within the State). This, too, is disingenuous on Melendez’s (Mitch’s) part. It is as common as dirt for campaigns for national campaigns to raise money outside their districts. When so much hinges on which party controls the House or Senate, it is to be expected that key races will attract national attention and, accordingly, financial support.
So in other words, it’s fine if you’re a Republican. Just not if your Al Franken.
