Whenever your “progressive“ friends condescendingly coo “nobody’s coming after your guns“, just remember that career bureaucrat and St. Paul, representative Dave Pinto is out there plying his trade:
School counselors.
Leftist ministers at “progressive“ churches
Marriage counselors, with six hyphenated last names.
These are a partial listthe people that today’s DFL wants to give control over your civil rights.
By the way – where to fight that mental health crisis, making half the population distrust the mental health industry.

Mental Health Professional:
Definition: Someone crazier than their “clients”.
But hey, they do help. When their clients see how crazy, crazy can get, they feel a whole lot better.

Do you know how states with red flag laws (like California) measure their effectiveness?
By how many guns they have seized.
February 10th, 2023 at 8:30 am
Are there no other countries with a high percentage of people having mental issues? Do those countries also have as many mass shootings as the US? Mental issues alone does not cause the high number of killings.
February 10th, 2023 at 8:31 am
Greg has a point. Doctor friends of mine, as well as those who have gotten doctorates in psychology, note that there is indeed a strong correlation between these helping professions and mental illness. I personally remember a time when I was receiving care as a kid due to the breakdown of my parents’ marriage, and my counselor was convinced that my real problem was that I was feeling guilty about “self-pleasuring.”
Except he used the technical word, which I didn’t know at the time, so I just kinda smiled and nodded and let him think what he was going to think.
That noted, I should be fair and guess that there are indeed competent mental health professionals out there, and in that light, it is a shame that people don’t see the reality that weaponizing counselors and the like against gun owners is going to keep many from getting care they need.
But really, for me the big issue is not that we’re not enforcing straw buyer and illegal possession laws. That’s the major issue at hand, and the Pareto Principle tells us that when you don’t address the big causes and try to address smaller issues, you often can’t find statistical significance. You might even get things wrong.
So really, the stance I’ve got is what the NRA and others have been saying for decades. We’ve got some laws we can enforce to put criminals behind bars, and if we’re not applying those laws, let’s not add new ones.
February 10th, 2023 at 8:56 am
bikebubba,
Granted that there are, on the off-chance, a handful of sane health professionals, the problem remains:
1) The “physician cure thyself” problem attracts those with personal problems to the field.
2) Zeitgeist. Let’s just say that various professions develop a dominate social culture, which repels anyone with a brain and traps those within the profession into brainlessness. Think teachers.
3) Institutional capture. Years ago, Gloria Steinem was invited to give the keynote address to the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association. Her topic: recovered memories.
Fortunately, recovered memory is a thoroughly debunked bit of snake oil, however, Gloria still swears by it and the APA is still in the thrall of Gloria and her ilk.
Best stay away from that crowd.

Hold up, Mr. Berg.
I *just* posted a tweet from the Minnesota Conservative™ Boomer Gun Loving Caucus that cited ‘mental health’ as the root of all evil…here it is, right here:
http://www.shotinthedark.info/wp/?p=84423#comment-244525
So now, a leftist degenerate has taken y’all at your word, and here you are squirting tears all over the web because he did.
What the hell did you numpties think they would do?
This is what happens not just when you play by ‘their’ rules, but play at all. If you manlets had man junk between your legs, instead of a shriveled coin purse, you’d have posted the crime statistics that conclusively prove black males between the ages of 12 and 45 commit 72% of firearm murders; it’s indisputable…and they’re carrying fully automatic pistols around now, with 30 rnd magazines, for fucks sake! *I* don’t even know where to get that kind of shit.
Pinto and his pals would have had to respond with a bunch of specious bullshit about how White people *force* them to do all he heinous shit they do, which gives you the opportunity to steer the debate over them with even more Science© they would hate. Instead, y’all are on the same page.
Nice work…no wonder y’all will soon be a “trans sanctuary state” for groomed 10 year old kids living in leftist controlled cities in civilized states to run to when they want their genitals mutilated.
February 10th, 2023 at 9:16 am
Here is Weimerica’s top mental health professional, lads
Just bury your firearms and be done with it. You did this to yourselves.
February 10th, 2023 at 9:17 am
The goal is to narrow the circumstances under which you may purchase a firearm, limit the number and types of firearms that you may buy, while widening the circumstances in which your firearms may be taken from you.
It’s really that simple.
February 10th, 2023 at 9:24 am
So we just need all those school counselors in North Minneapolis to start passing out red flag orders like they were M&Ms and we’d stop gun violence in its tracks.
Oh, wait, that would only promote the school-to-psych-ward chain, so we can’t have that. And red flag orders realistically don’t apply to people legally too young to own a gun, right? That obstreperous parent at the School Board Kumbaya, though ….

The spring offensive has begun?
The catastrophic loss for Putin that many are hoping for would almost certainly lead to war with NATO.
The one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that if there is a direct conflict between NATO & Russia, everything gets non-linear (meaning you ability to predict what actions will result in what outcome goes away.
Nobody wants to see that happen.
February 10th, 2023 at 4:24 pm
So if Putin gets his rear end kicked by the 98 lb weakling, he’s going to decide to pick a fight with the starting left tackle?
Praying that the grieving widows and mothers of Russia start to realize what their a-hole of a leader has done to them, and treat him like Mussolini at Lake Como, or Ceaucescu. And then walk right down to FSB HQ and open up all the files, like the Germans did.

I will say no more than that I suspect Bikebubba is a Vikings fan.
February 10th, 2023 at 7:26 pm
Ouch, UMMP. That’s harsh.
Do you foresee Bikebubble burning his official I Stand With Ukraine™️ flag and autographed Z-Man Hot Gear™️ S&M wardrobe in his driveway as nuclear fireballs crest the horizon?
February 10th, 2023 at 7:43 pm
Just looked at the document.
Pinto has carved out an exception to the sacred HIPPA and psychiatric patient confidentiality laws in order to take your firearms. Do any of you Patriots believe there is any line they will not cross to render you defenseless?
Conversely, consider the fact these same degenerates are working feverishly to codify into law, the governments right to keep critical information regarding a child’s mental health from parents.
How hard do you think y’all are gonna have to vote to clean this mess up?
Enlighten me, please.
February 10th, 2023 at 7:49 pm
Psychiatrists are already permitted to violate patient confidence in cases where they are aware of a clear and present danger their patients pose to others.
This just adds denying the fact that there are 850 genders, or flying a Gadsen flag such dangers.

Typical Liberals – find a problem, make it worse, then propose a solution to the mess you created which will make the problem even worse than before.
Form 4473 – the document you sign when you go through a background check to purchase a firearm – lists categories of people prohibited from purchasing a firearm. They are mostly people who were deprived of rights after due process including notice of the charges against them and an opportunity to be heard before a neutral decider – basically, they’ve lost a case in court (or are on the lam, a fugitive from justice to avoid losing their case in court).
Domestic Abuse orders give the appearance of due process but anybody who spent any time in court knows the judges hand them out like Kleenex. Why wouldn’t they? What judge wants to be the one who denied the order for a woman who is later harmed by the unrestrained abuser? What’s the penalty for handing out too many protective orders? None. There’s no downside to issuing the order and no upside to the judge for upholding the rights of the accused. That carrot/stick combination leads to railroading and it’s rampant.
Red Flag laws weaken due process even further, allowing judges to strip a person of firearms on accusation, not conviction. And now mental health professionals can write orders without any concept of due process at all. 1,500 years of judicial tradition thrown out the window to signal our virtue, show how much we care, knowing it won’t do the slightest good to prevent the vast majority of deaths by firearm.
Latest figures show about 40,000 deaths by firearm per year. 30,000 of them are suicides, and most of those are old White men who have lost their wives, families, jobs, and have nothing left to live for. Those guys won’t seek mental health counselling so the order against them will never be issued. The remaining 10,000 are mostly young Black men killing each other with illegally possessed firearms. They won’t seek mental health counselling either, so again, no order.
The law is aimed at the handfull of crazy young white men who shoot up schools. They’re already known to law enforcement and to mental health professionals. If the school counsellor could strip those guys of guns, we’d prevent school shootings, right? Sure, but if the school counsellor thinks the person is a danger, why not report them to the cops to be adjudicated/committed in a due process hearing? Because it’s too hard to win. Liberals have convinced courts to set the evidence requirement too high in a misguided effort to protect individual freedom from government intrusion (it’s better to wander the streets crazy than to be locked up and medicated against your will).
So now Liberals want to work around the problem they created by avoiding a trip to court, avoiding due process, and lowering the evidence requirement. It will not solve the problem it is intended to solve. It will allow political activists to target enemies. Remember the Kavanaugh hearings? Imagine if the witnesses had the power to issue orders in private, no cameras, no oversight, no meaningful review.
This is a terrible idea. It won’t work. It will make things worse. Typical Liberals.

Missouri House votes against limits on minors carrying guns
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/missouri-house-votes-against-limits-minors-carrying-guns
“The proposal to ban children from carrying guns without adult supervision in public failed by a 104-39 vote. Only one Republican voted in support of it.”
I’m guessing Missouri Republicans will get a lot more concerned when non-white 14 year olds start carrying guns.
February 11th, 2023 at 8:22 am
“The law is aimed at the handfull of crazy young white men who shoot up schools.”
No. The law is aimed at White men like you and me. Men who will never come before a judge for serious crimes. Intelligent men who are a threat to government control.
The reprobates dgaf about blacks killing each other. They are literally filling the streets with corpses, and we are forbidden to even notice.
And that’s fine by me. Between abortion and murder, our low IQ, violent underclass is a problem that’s solving itself. Given enough time, White, leftist degenerates with Ivy League credentials and black grifters who parlay their community college cultural studies diploma into a cushy government job will find themselves without a constituency to pander to.
February 12th, 2023 at 12:46 am
re e’s 2-11 at 8:12, democrats claim to need this law to prevent 14 year old kids carrying AR15 rifles down the street, because unless they’re actually brandishing them, cops can’t touch them.
I will bet you a brand-new nickel there have been zero problems with that, the example is a lie told to frighten people. I bet the current law is intended to protect youth hunting on public lands, not brandishing assault rifles they’re too young to possess. I bet the proposed legislation was an attempt to kill hunting as a sport by cutting off the younger generation.
race has nothing to do with it but notice who is perpetuating the lie, using the same fright tactics? yep, liberals. way to stoop, e

It’s just another epicycle in the circle of progressive madness.
Progressive: We need to end gun violence!
Normal person: Great idea! Let’s put the criminals who commit gun violence in jail for a long time! And since most gun crime is committed with an illegally possessed gun, let’s put people who illegally possess a gun in jail for a long time, too!
Progressive: No, that will put too many black & brown people in jail. Instead let’s make it illegal for everyone to own a gun!
Normal Person: That is literal nonsense.
Progressive: You’re a racist gun nut! What are you compensating for? Hmm? Hmm?

February 12th, 2023 at 7:32 am
Naftali Bennett, then the prime minister of Israel, found himself praying aboard a cramped, decrepit plane last year as it sailed over Kazakhstan. The long flight, arranged with help from the Mossad, was bound for Moscow on a desperate mission: broker peace between Russia and Ukraine just after the two countries had gone to war.
According to Bennett, Russian President Vladimir Putin made two major concessions during their March 5 meeting. First, he renounced “denazification”—that is, regime change in Kiev. Second, he dropped his demand for Ukraine’s demilitarization. Bennett said President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to abandon Ukraine’s pursuit of NATO membership in exchange.
Both Putin and Zelensky seemed eager to end the fighting. But the U.S. had other plans.
Bennett described Putin as “pragmatic” and not “Messianic” but governed by limited, concrete objectives, contra the Western portrait of him as a madman bent on world domination.

Reasonable discussion of the NATO-Russia story:https://www.npr.org/2022/01/29/1076193616/ukraine-russia-nato-explainer
I think that the reason it is not rah-rah Ukraine is because it was written just before or on the first day of the invasion, and that was a time when NATO had already accepted the lost of (at least) large parts of Ukrainian territory to Russia, and the probable Russification of the government of the Ukraine that remained.
The article places the blame for the disaster with Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II, not Obama and not Biden.

I originally thought that the above MPR article was published on the day of the Russian invasion, Feb. 24, 2022. Now I see that was the date the article was last updated, but it was first published on 1/29/2022, nearly one month before the invasion.
No cheering for Ukraine, no Putin delenda est! bullshit, both the West & Russia are blamed about equally for the pending invasion of Ukraine. There was no talk about how if Putin was successful, Putin was ready to invade NATO countries.
What happened after 2/24 that turned on the NATO war machine? Zelenskyy declared he would fight the world’s largest nuclear power to the last Ukrainian if NATO gave him the weapons and the cash to do so.
I am very happy to have used SITD to document my opposition to this insanity.

Blade, this is he Biden administration that we are talking about. A plan to take out Putin & Russia would require competence. Slow Joe ain’t running the shop, we saw his foreign policy team in action in Afghanistan. I honestly don’t believe that there is anyone competent in charge anywhere in the West. Well, maybe Meloni. Frequently wrong, never in doubt Emery, who believes the theory that Trump conspired with Putin to steal the 2016 election from Hillary, is now going to give y’all a lecture on the foolishness of believing in conspiracy theories.
I had some fun the other day linking to Emery’s year-old comments claiming that the “Hunter Biden laptop” story was fake.
February 12th, 2023 at 8:10 pm
I am sad to report that although the US FP team may be so incompetent as to approve an act of war by destroying the Nordstream pipeline, they are not competent enough to do this undetected.
February 12th, 2023 at 8:40 pm
Seriously, I do not believe the Biden FP is capable of enough competence to blow up the Nordstream pipeline. If they had attempted to do so, there would have been not only human casualties, but we probably would have lost a few capital ships and may a submarine or two.
Never forget, these are the people that engineered the slow collapse of Afghanistan only to see it collapse in hours while leaving behind literally billions of dollars in usable & saleable military equipment.
If these dudes — and I mean Blinken and Milley — were leading a boy scout troop where literally all they had to do was teach the scouts to light a fire with a match, the results would have been that they would have burned all of their kit to ashes, half the scouts would would have been burned to death, and the other half would end up in a gay whorehouse in Karachi working on their merit badge in being buggered.
February 13th, 2023 at 7:54 am
Speaking to reporters on February 7, 2022, Biden said: “If Russia invades, that means tanks or troops crossing the border of Ukraine again, there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2.”
“We will bring an end to it,” the president said. A journalist asked Biden how he could do that since Germany was in control of the project, the president replied: “I promise you: We will be able to do it.”
Today, everybody agrees Hirsch is an idiot, the claim is a conspiracy theory, the US had nothing to do with it and couldn’t possibly have executed it even if we wanted to, the Russians blew up their own pipeline to sabotage their own economy to undermine their own war effort because TRUMP!
But remember all the other ‘conspiracy theories’ that turned out to be true? Wait for it . . . .
