The Ghouls Among Us
By Mitch Berg
During the debate on the state’s #1 priority, Rep. Peggy Scott asked Rep. Skeletor when a baby becomes human.
Liebling’s response:
I’m going to park this is a post for 2024. The media will try to memory-hole this entire shameful episode. I may not be able to fix that, but in the little corner of the world I influence, this is going to be a topic in about 18 months.

Republicans were gifted a solution completely simpatico to their supposed core beliefs by SCOTUS (leaving “it” to the states) and they are going to screw it up by playing to the far right. Republicans have earned and will continue to earn their wilderness years. Go ahead and push for them. If you think the backlash in 2022 hurt you wait until 2024.
January 25th, 2023 at 11:23 am
Take a look at reproductiverights.org world map. The proposed DFL law would make MN a far outlier in the word, with virtually unlimited right to abortion up to birth.
Gotta call out extremism every chance you get.
January 25th, 2023 at 11:43 am
liebling is entirely correct
it is irrelevent when a baby becomes a human
or when a jew does
or a negro
because even after they are fully and completely human
certain people are entitled to kill them at whim
that is the moral position democrats occupy
and demand we occupy it too
because we are extremists
January 25th, 2023 at 12:11 pm
The abortion regime that will be passed into law in MN is extreme, allowing abortion up to the moment of birth and possibly afterwards.
It will be the most extreme pro abortion law of any state in the US.

How touching.
And full of it.

Emery
this question is still on the table…
At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you would it have become unacceptable for her to abort you?
January 25th, 2023 at 12:51 pm
Late-term abortion is exceedingly rare and usually involves health risks to the mother. Late-term abortions are expensive, comparatively more dangerous than early-term abortions, and always medically indicated — meaning the mother, fetus, or both are in danger of dying, or are already dead. These are wanted pregnancies that have come to tragic ends. They are awful enough situations without politicization.
The single best way to prevent abortion is to prevent unwanted pregnancies and that is done by having real life honest sex education and wide availability of birth control. If the pro-life crowd was really interested in stopping abortion they would advocate for these things, but they don’t.
January 25th, 2023 at 1:21 pm
Emery declaimed; “and wide availability of birth control.”
This is what Systemic Racism™ looks like. Emery’s target for this assertion is young non-white girls. The pill costs <$300 a year, a year supply of condoms even less. This is Margaret Sanger's Social Hygiene writ large; a program for controlling the reproduction of “undesirable” elements of the population. What Emery is peddling is the same racist crap that Progressives have been pushing for 100 years.

January 25th, 2023 at 2:30 pm
Emery, no, but we can dispense with the notion that you give evidence of being a sentient being. That last comment at 2:24pm made no sense whatsoever.
January 25th, 2023 at 2:47 pm
Only if we can stop with the fiction that you have a brain, Bot Boy!
January 25th, 2023 at 3:24 pm
“Can we please stop with the fiction that the right-wing are in any way pro life?”
In the Looking Glass world where “pro life” means “kill as many babies as possible,” that would be correct.
Here on Planet Earth, not so much.
January 25th, 2023 at 3:58 pm
If we want to say life begins early in pregnancy, a positive pregnancy test should kick into gear a whole array of nutritional, medical, financial and social support. If we’re ok with the fact that it doesn’t, are we serious about this life? I think we’re not.
January 25th, 2023 at 5:05 pm
It does. Have you ever heard of Medicaid? Have you ever heard of crisis pregnancy centers, which provide exactly the kind of support you’re talking about?
January 25th, 2023 at 10:10 pm
You are repeating your blather, which was refuted on an earlier thread.
Just as felons can’t own guns and children can’t marry, unborn people have limited rights but the right to LIFE is certainly top of the list.

been considering making some investments so i can clean up like the e-guys
except lesko brandon just announced he’s sending 30 abrams tanks to ukraine
and tanks dont go anywhere alone they go with mechanics and trainers which broadens and deepens usa involvement directly in war against russia
and that makes me wonder . . .
will the world still exist for me to clean up on my investments?
maybe i should piss away money now, while i can still get some fun out of it?

Republicans proposed a 15 week limit for abortions. Democrats proposed 24 weeks.
Split the difference @ 20 weeks and call it a day.

I’m calling bullshit.
The “Women’s Health Protection Act of 2022” passed by the house said 24 weeks, but states could go later if it served the “health of the mother.” “Health” is not a term with a fixed legal meaning.
January 26th, 2023 at 2:43 pm
How could the pro-life supporters be this clueless about the potential fallout from Roe falling? They had 50 years to strategize.
January 26th, 2023 at 3:31 pm
we are not clueless
we are principled
we are not willing to compromise our principles
not after hanging onto them for 50 years

At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you would it have become unacceptable for her to abort you?
January 26th, 2023 at 5:32 pm
Emery, regarding the fallout from Dobbs, I’ve been pro-life for over 40 years now, and have always been aware that when Roe got reversed, it would be back in the political realm, and that there would be some who were extraordinarily motivated due to that.
But that said, it’s a wonderful thing that Roe is gone, as it refutes bad legal logic that pervades a lot of bad decisions like Obergefell. Sometimes it’s tough, but that’s what pro-life activists have been working for for decades.
Regarding the notion that the left was OK with banning abortion after 24 weeks, what UMMP notes. “Health of the mother” is an opening you can drive a few Abrams tanks through side by side. When Democrats are serious about treating pro-life voters with respect, they’ll agree to de-fund Planned Parenthood. I’m not holding my breath.

“If we want to say life begins early in pregnancy, a positive pregnancy test should kick into gear a whole array of nutritional, medical, financial and social support from the daddy.”
I agree that to get full welfare benefits, a mother needs to identify the father(s) of her child(ren). I don’t see why taxpayers ought to be compelled to pay for the upkeep of children they didn’t have the pleasure of helping to conceive, all while the fathers get off scot-free. Quite frankly, if you handled it well, you could usher a lot of young men and women from being on the dole to being productive members of society in a hurry.
January 26th, 2023 at 5:57 pm
I totally understand and empathize with the pro-life position. This is one of those tragic situations where both sides are right, each in their own way.
It would be nice if boys and girls had access to good sex education and learned about their bodies and learned to take responsibilities and respect their partners. And it would be nice if boys and girls had easy access to birth control, private and non-judgemental. And it would be nice if the US legal system didn’t leave the girl holding the baby alone.
I bet this debate on abortion would be much less poisonous if the number of abortions reduced naturally to only the most difficult scenarios.

Can we please stop with the fiction that the right-wing are in any way pro life?
Aaand the deflection.
By the way – when would Ma Emery have ceased to be justified in aborting you?
Not some abstract woman. Ma Emery.
Not some clump of nameless cells. You. Whoever you are.
When did your live acquire moral and legal value?
Answer that question, and no other.
TIA.
January 27th, 2023 at 9:21 am
It would be nice if boys and girls had access to good sex education and learned about their bodies and learned to take responsibilities and respect their partners.
Is this not taught in public school? I went to a private secular school, and had sex ed in 5th, 8th, and 10th grade. Given the glee with which the left is driving public school curricula leftwards, I’m pretty sure there is plenty of sex ed in public schools.
And it would be nice if boys and girls had easy access to birth control, private and non-judgmental.
Every drug store and grocery store sells all sorts of condoms. The pill is an rX, and an IUD requires insertion by a doctor. And I’m SURE that Planned Abortionhood is perfectly willing to give out most contraceptives for free or at a greatly reduced rate. I’m not sure how this is still an issue.
And it would be nice if the US legal system didn’t leave the girl holding the baby alone.
Why? It doesn’t give the father any say in the matter on whether or not the pregnancy should continue or be ended. Plus, I’m sure lots of baby mamas don’t know or won’t reveal who the father is. Single motherhood is almost a badge of honor nowadays. Family courts have been for decades, and still are almost completely biased in favor of the mother. Mitch has written about this more than once.
The underlying principle of all these concepts is that the state is trying to remove any accountability for anything from everyone. Except the taxpayer who gets stuck holding the bag when public funding is involved.

And like a submarine — MBerg raises his conning tower and then again submerge below the surface.
I am disappointed that MBerg is engaging in this cruel pedantic argument. When does life begin? That is not the question. The question is, when does that zygote using its host’s body for sustenance obtain more rights than the living breathing woman carrying it?
Here is a fine organization for those concerned about ‘crisis pregnancy’ and adoption. Contribute your time or financial resources

Not surprisingly you misunderstand.
If the woman doesn’t want to fulfil the biological contract she is free to get a tubal ligation and live out her life as the Town Pump

MinnPost, last July:
The DFL is a political Party gone mad. They might as well worship Moloch openly.
For the record: Where do Walz and Ellison stand on abortion?
Do the DFL incumbents support third-trimester abortion “for any reason?” Both say they do not and neither of their political opponents produced evidence that they do or have supported no-restriction abortion.

This is what conservatives asked for when they overturned Roe. They wanted to let the states decide. Now Minnesota has decided.
Let’s move on.

Yes, lets move on, all you have to do is answer this simple question…
At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you would it have become unacceptable for her to abort you?
January 29th, 2023 at 3:02 pm
Well, Emery, we’ll see how much of Minnesota “decided” to support abortion at 40 weeks, removal of parental consent, and allowing abortions in Mini-Marts next year.
The media is going to do its best to memory-hole this exchange.
Not if I can help it.
