Pledge Week – Grand Finale!
By Mitch Berg
The turnout for “pledge week” this week (it’s not really “pledging”, it’s just passing the tip jar, really) has been really good, so I’m going to make it “Pledge Four Days” instead.
As I noted before – I’d do the blog for the sheer love of the game, but knowing others are interested as well helps a lot.
Thanks for all of your support.

Two questions (still unanswered).
1. Why the name “Shot in the Dark”?
2. What are the expenses of blogging? (of this blog in particular, since other blogs may have very different expenses)

DG,
1. “Shot In The Dark” meant a bunch of things when I first started the blog. As in most things in my life, I’m winging it, here; it’s all a Shot In The…well, you know. A shot in the dark is also a warning, the shot of a sentry warning everyone else. The shot in the dark is also a beacon, the sound of the guns to which one rides. The shot is a glimmer of light in a dark place. I’m a Peter Sellers fan, as well…
2. The hosting costs $11 a month, so it’s pretty negligible. I do, however, spend a fair amount of time at this – usually an hour to 90 minutes every morning.

The blogosphere would be more democratic if we could TAKE money away from bloggers. How much would you have to lose to stop blogging, Mitch?

Wow, “Uncle”, aren’t you a charmer?
The obvious, free solution would be for you to go read somewhere else.

The Tic response to every problem: take other peoples money and control what they do.
