What Used To Be Vices Could One Day Be Entitlements

By Mitch Berg

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Odd to see Democrats adopting a fundamentalist moralizing tone towards women’s occupational choices. Apparently, being a sex worker is no longer a perfectly acceptable lifestyle.

House Democrats say Global Warming turns women into prostitutes.

Increasing the supply of prostitutes should bring the price down. So is that a bug, or a feature?

Joe Doakes

It’ll be a feature when President Obama institudes the Affordable Sex Act, forcing everyone in the US – married or single, punctilious or libertine, patron or not – to pay for everyone else’s hookers.

You joke, but build a time machine, go back 50 years, and tell people that in 2014:
-You can buy pot in stores, just like you buy oil
-If you own a business, you have to give free birth control pills to your employees.
-In certain industries, if you don’t particapate in homosexual marriages, the gov’t will take your business away from you.
-It is basically illegal to sing Christmas songs in public schools.

It does make you wonder what is coming next from the hard left.

Mark Steyn recently quoted Bob Hope from 1975: “I just left California, where they’ve made homosexuality legal. I thought I’d get out before they made it compulsory.”

Soon, mere tolerance of the “alternative lifestyle” will not be sufficient; everyone will be required to embrace it.

Back in the seventies, when women’s lib was in full force, prostitution was considered by some to be another valid expression of a woman’s right to choose what she did with her body. Remember the popularity of “The Happy Hooker”? I believe she was a madam wrote for Playboy or Penthouse, or similar. She was a Dutch woman named Xaviera something and was celebrated as a free spirited liberated woman. Even as recently as the 90’s prostitution wasn’t too badly disparaged – remember “Pretty Woman”? Of course all prostitutes must look and act like Julia …

Now they’ve been rediscovered, are being victimized, and are called sex workers. It’s always been a nasty business done by nasty people. However, I wouldn’t hold sex workers, as a group, totally blameless. Of course that excludes minors who enter the business either willingly or forced.

A good prevention model would hold those engage in any aspect of it accountable for their part and punished or rehabilitated as appropriate.

Food shortages? “Global warming”, if were actually true…would likely increase growing seasons, therefore increase the food supply. But we can’t argue logic with idiots.

Socialist economic policies lead to more poverty than their more fiscal conservative counterparts. Yet, I don’t read reports of these vacuous bobble-heads decrying poverty subsidies as causing an increase in young women turning to prostitution…

It’s funny that the left wing cowards never speak out against Islam which considers homosexuality an offense punishable by death.

To cheer you up…..Non-partison budget office (can’t recall exact title) came out with news that the state of Wisconsin has a very large surplus coming up.

So check out the left wing Wisconsin State Journal story on it…..the comments. The Madison lefties are very angry. Governor Walker’s Wisconsin has a large budget surplus, and he is giving it back to the taxpayers of the state. Nothing pisses off a leftwinger than good news like that.
