There are two ways of looking at last nights exercise of the will to power masquerading as a speech by a senile old man:
The Ultimate Exercise of Berg‘s Seventh Law: Brandon, leader of a party whose acolytes have been dismantleing the rule of law nationwide, using administrative power to stifle opposition,and sending bands of thugs out to keep people in line,speaking from an SS-issue black and red stage flanked by Marines, painted half of America – his political opponents – as threats to democracy and domestic terrorists.
A Masterful Diversion: instead of talking about inflation, energy prices, a failing education system, unaffordable health care and education, catastrophic crime rates, the border crisis, national debt, the collapse of America’s foreign-policy, a nationwide mental health crisis, we are all now talking about Donald Trump.
And given how much extremism benefits from extremism, I don’t doubt for a moment that the Branden ministration is hoping last nights “Build back with Triumph of the Will“ address goads some less stable Trumpkin into doing something stupid, accompanied by lavish media coverage, to further deflect the nations attention.
I say, why not both?

I have to give two of CNN’s commentators for criticizing the militaristic background to his speech last night. They said that the marines in the background were not appropriate for a president of either party. Of course, they were lambasted by the TWITterverse Karens, but they defended themselves fine.

It was the most un-American speech to the nation by an American president I have ever heard. This is the real Joe Biden, nasty, intemperate, and vengeful. This is the Joe Biden Republicans told America they would get if Slow Joe ever took office, and they were right.
The optics were really bad, red denotes anger and violence, not conciliation. Having the marines behind him amounted to an endorsement of Biden’s hate by the military. Biden’s wife escorting him on and off stage made him look weak.
I really wish the major networks had carried his speech, this is the Joe Biden that conservatives and MAGA people want Americans to see.
I suppose the speech was made because Biden’s people really believe that Americans see Slow Joe as some kind of moral exemplar. Good grief.

This extremely biased “analysis” of Biden’s speech that it was an “attempt to reframe the midterm elections.” Why on earth would Biden want to do that? It’s been a wall to wall to wall success, according to Slow Joe! Sure, since he took office, our armed forces suffered an ignominious defeat at the hands of religious maniacs with small arms, inflationis running at a 40 year high, gas prices up 40%, an ongoing shortage of baby formula (rarely mentioned on the network news, for some reason), a major land war in Europe, and a recession. Biden was right to call out Trump Republicans as extremists and a threat to democracy.
He was also right to characterize Trump and his followers as those who simply can’t admit that they lost the election, and the only possible outcome of elections is either that they won, or they were cheated. Indeed, Trump laid the groundwork for challenging the election outcome in 2016 had he lost.
Even now Trump is rambling on social media like the lunatic that he is about Hunter Biden’s laptop and if that came out— whatever that is— he would’ve won the election easily and that they should declare him the winner or have a new election—two years after the fact.
And yet the vast majority of Republicans in Congress remain supportive of him, don’t dare speak against him, and are completely intimidated by him. Nearly all of them spoke out against Trump early on when he first ran for president, only to have him disparage them and in some cases their wives too, and then respond by planting their noses firmly in his @ss. These are the ones that have no business in Congress, or in any position of authority.

It’s worth noting that when I visited CNN this morning, they weren’t saying much about Biden’s speech. It is as if the whole thing was an embarrassment to the left. Here’s what some of the MSM said:
CNN pointed out that political attacks with a backdrop of Marines are a serious breach. CBS pointed out the same, and noted the strange claim that it “wasn’t political” to take direct aim at members of the other party. Really, it’s the second time this week Biden has used the Marines to try to score political points.
And really, blood red background? What’s next, Emery, legions of people with their right arm up saluting the Leader? Am I to be summoned for the Two Minute Hate of Emmanuel Goldstein?

Yet they call their opponents fascist. They call conservatives, who have taken up the mantle of free speech, liberty, equality in education, parental rights, and individual freedom, fascists.

I’m thinking Slow Joe is going to walk back his walk back.
His people billed the speech as a non-campaign speech. That’s why the marines are there. Then in the speech he called the thirty or forty million voters who identify as Maga as being a threat to democracy.
Today he says (I’m paraphrasing), “no, only those who incite violence or who deny that I won the election fairly.”
Think, for a moment, of all democrat politicians, not to mention democrat voters, who still do not believe that Bush won his elections in 2000 and 2004 fairly, and who deny that Trump won his 2016 election fairly.
Think of all the Democrats who encouraged violence in the streets in the summer of 2020.
Anyway, if the threat is a small number of people, why last night’s heavily promoted speech? It doesn’t make sense, any more than it would have made sense for Trump to give a national speech on the evils of BLM in 2020. Not riots and political violence, but only about the wicked BLM people.
So whoever decided the speech would be a good idea is not going to like Slow Joe walking it back.

Democrats have consistently misunderstand Trump’s appeal to his supporter.
For years — decades — they have seen democracy diminished. People vote for sensible immigration measures and the laws passed by their representatives are ignored. We have a procedure in this country, a very democratic procedure, for altering the constitution, and our rulers in DC alter it at whim. Remember the equal rights amendment? Couldn’t pass the democratic muster for amending the constitution? Every one of its provisions is now the law of the land, women in combat roles in the military, unisex bathrooms, everything, all suddenly found by federal administrators. Do you think Slow Joe wants to let you vote on abortion? Gay marriage?
That’s the contempt Biden, and the woke progressives who support him, have for “democracy” and “rule with the consent of the governed.”
