Senator Mitchell: DFL, Woodbury

MInnesotans: “Judd Hoff. Matt Roznowski. Julie Blaha. John Thompson. Dan Wolgamott. Brion Curran. Andy Smith. Can the DFL get any more depraved?”

Minnesota DFL: “Hold our Kombucha”.

Why, yes – that’s the relentlessly smug Nicole Mitchell – DFL senator from Woodbury, and apparently the DFL’s designated civil liberties expert.

Jeff Kolb ran through the facts we know (Twitter thread):

The incident took place at the home of her late father’s wife. Fill in further details at your own peril, but that might suggest a few answers.

It goes without saying Berg’s 18th Law is in force, and of course Michell is innocent until proven guilty.

  1. Typical DemoCommie.
Stealing taxpayer money isn’t enough. She has to steal from family members.

  2. Curious meta-perspectives to this. The state legislature is still in session. Isn’t it an only one vote DemoCommie advantage in the Senate? The bint was arrested in Detroit Lakes which is far enough away that you don’t just zip up and back. Did she get permission from the DemoCommie junta to make the trip? Was she aware that no votes would be upcoming when she left? Or was that pre-arranged? Does the DemoCommie junta know why she made the trip? And what about now? Is she still in custody? Can/Is she still able to vote from jail? Has she returned? Has she made the tearful non-apology apology?

  3. jdm,

From the articles, it appears that the state senate is on a passover break. One assumes that if Ms/Xe/ZZ Mitchell does not make it back in time, the senate will declare a “FREE PALESTINE” break….if they have not done so already.

  4. Thanks, Greg, for the info. Passover, huh? I thought all good DemoCommies hated the joos. Or maybe their holidays are OK. Or something.

  5. jdm.
You are so silly. You seem to have forgotten that Democrats in gubmint positions, use any holiday to screw off and get paid for it.

Funny (and predictable)! The media has not shown her mug shot nor have they identified her party affiliation. The Dems are already throwing out rumors to make this look less of a violation that it is. As far as I can tell, she’s still in jail, which usually indicates that there’s something more than a break in involved.

Burglary in Minnesota, is a mandatory 6 month sentence, but she’ll skate on that.

  6. Who are you guys to judge her. She has her own lived experience and her own truth. I’m waiting for the manifesto.

  7. Looks like a family squabble, as she was arrested taking some of her father’s things at the request of the stepmother’s family.

  8. From Time magazine, of all places:

    https://time.com/6970100/minnesota-senator-nicole-mitchell-arrested-burglary/

She’s been in the National Guard 29 years and is now a Commander? I don’t think so, Time. Her campaign website shows a dress uniform. Those look like silver oak leaves. I’m thinking she’s a Colonel. But unless I’m wrong, none of those ribbons look like heroic leadership stuff, more like heroic paperwork stuff. Best Unit Citation three times. Uh huh.

The one thing that gives me pause is the wings. Somebody help me out – are those Command Pilot wings? And she flies Hurricane Hunters? Okay THAT would impress me. Doesn’t excuse burglary to retrive Tupperware but it’s a long ways ahead of her DFL colleages. And I know about in-laws being b—-. Could be she had provocation.

    Judgment reserved, for now.

  9. Personally whenever I do a safety check on my elderly relatives, I prefer to dress in black and crawl through a basement window at 4:30 in the morning.

So as not to disturb their slumber, of course.

Question: how many minutes did it take for the Strib to rush to her defense?

  10. Greg;
Don’t forget your flashlight that’s modified to emit the smallest amount of light.

This is becoming more bizarre by the minute. Even her attempts to downplay the incident, make her sound like a total scum ball.

  11. DFL on full denial alert in order to preserve its one vote majority. Can’t wait for the body cam footage!

  12. dcs;
Funny, huh? Moron Erin Murphy, suddenly cares about “due process”, claiming that Mitchell deserves her day in court.

She’s divulging medical information of another person, was found with a back pack with two laptops and cell phone from the house.

  13. boss,

She removed the laptops and phone for safety reasons – and why the 4:30 basement entry, you may ask, well, she needed to get into the house and remove those items, least someone wake up and use them.

Who knows what right-wing misinformation an vulnerable elderly person might inadvertently come across on a laptop or cell-phone?

Don’t you care about vulnerable people?

  14. It turns out that Mitchell is a licensed Minnesota attorney!

Whenever I need to have a wellness check on someone, I’m jumping into my car at zero dark thirty and driving three hours to get to their house, instead of calling the evil, racist police department to do it.

  15. Greg actually brings out an angle which should be pursued. If the stepmother does have Alzheimers then she is a vulnerable adult. Stealing from a known vulnerable adult should carry additional penalties including loss of a law license.

At the very least preying upon a vulnerable adult is morally reprehensible and should be highlighted as to her character.

  16. OK, taking the laptops seems to cross a line, as that’s not a sentimental thing that would seem to correspond to the elderly, who keep their pictures in hard copy, not online. That, and sneaking in at 4:30 am.

One thing to note as well, having several relatives and friends with dementia, is that taking precious memories from people with dementia is pretty darned cruel. Those items tend to link their minds to a secure place. So unless there is a really good explanation, Ms. Mitchell needs a conviction, a disbarment, and apparently (!) a dishonorable discharge.

  17. Interesting how MPR (Mitchell’s former employer) is handling the case.

MPRNEWS Burglary charge filed against DFL state Sen. Mitchell over alleged plan to get late father’s items

In the second paragraph, they state:

The charges allege Mitchell broke into the home of her stepmother amid an ongoing dispute over possessions that belonged to the senator’s late father, as well as his ashes.

It is not until ten paragraphs later that we learn:

Mitchell’s father, Roderick, died in March of 2023. In late January, a judge signed off on a probate case that awarded 100 percent of Roderick Mitchell’s assets to his wife, Carol.

So what is the dispute here and who is it with?

The possessions that Ms. Mitchell stole, may have belonged (past tense) to her father, but according to the court, they belong (present tense) to her mother-in-law.

Apparently, Ms. Mitchell has a problem with a probate judge. Sounds like a matter for the courts, not a 4:30 am foray into her mother-in-laws basement.

  18. Minnesota is divided into judicial districts of roughly equal population. Ramsey and Hennepin get their own, the Northern burbs get one, the Southern burbs get another, outstate districts are much larger geographically. Becker County (where the case is venued) is in the 7th district which is roughly the I-94 corridor from Albertville to Moorhead.

Judges are assigned to judicial districts by caseload. There are 30 judges to cover all the cases in all 10 counties in the 7th District (by comparison, Ramsey has 29 judges but also several Referees who specialize in family, housing, and probate court). There are 3 judges assigned to Becker County where the burglary case will be venued: Mike Fritz, Michelle Lawson, Gretchen Thilmony. Oddly, they were all appointed by Democrat Governor Mark Dayton.

The upshot is the same judge who handled Daddy’s probate case and awarded everything to the Wicked Step Mom is likely to be assigned the Concerned Daughter’s Burglary case. If not, the judges certainly know each other and undoubtedly talk in chambers. The fact everybody involved is a Democrat and the Democrats have a slim majority in the legislature to protect is annoying but not astonishing considering how the judicial selection system works. The fact the defendant is a big-shot Woodbury scientist/lawyer/soldier/legislator commuting from The Cities to perform midnight “welfare checks” in fly-over country may not sit well with people who have invested their lives in their communities.

Should be fun watching the shenanigans. How long can the judge delay the case to keep the defendant in the legislature? What can DFL Central offer the prosecutor to drop the charges? Lifetime golf membership? Appointment to an important committee? Maybe one of Hunter’s paintings?

  19. Bigman,

She has to either plead guilty or be convicted. That’s a given and has been decided by the DFL powers that be within milliseconds after the first news bulletin.

    Which leaves…

    Question 1: when?

Answer: After the session and (way) before the coming election.

    Question 2: of what?

    Answer: The lowest possible charge.

    My bet: trespass.

Her sentence: Community service with MOMS AGAINST GUNS.

  20. She’s been in the National Guard 29 years and is now a Commander?

    Lieutenant Colonel.

  21. She looks sadz. At least she believes in global warming and probably loves Fauci. But she’s missing her mask! Gotta be safe! lol.

  22. And I also see the Leftists have infiltrated Woodbury now. WOODBURY, What the F? Wake up!!

  23. cosmicwxdude.
Sadly, that’s been happening for at least the last ten years. Some good friends of mine live there, one from Indiana and one from Iowa and along with their spouses, Republicans. They refer to Woodbury as “Chicago West”, due to the influx of refugees from the Chicago area. Sadly, that’s happening in several burbs, Bloomington, Edina, Eden Prairie and Burnsville, are all sliding into the left wing abyss.
