Tea Leaves
By Mitch Berg
Every DFL politician’s social media feed is raving about this puff piece from HuffPo which christens Tina Smith “the Velvet Hammer”.
The Velvet Hammer?
I can think of lots of adjectives to add to Smith’s hamfistedness. Velvet ain’t one of them.
And what usually happens after you see DFLers posting “attagirls” over inexplicable media. puff pieces?
Some dirt comes out on them. .
For example – during the session, the DFL noise machine broke out into a round of praise for Rep. Finke. It went from zero to 60 in three seconds, as if the Representative had just pulled someone from a burning building Clearly something had happened.
That something was Finke had charged across the House floor at another representative over retweeting a trans-skeptic account.
So am I too cynical in asking “what dirt is coming out about Smith?”

Video of her putting the hammer down on some baby skulls?

I don’t know about any dirt. Perhaps you’re right. But that picture immediately reminded me of Sen Dianne Feinstein. And our state’s dominant group of voters would be proud to send her back again and again until she collapsed.

c’mon jdm, it won’t be the first time libturds elected dead and/or braindead people.

some DFL PR firm got paid a lot of (probably taxpayer) money to come up with the Velvet Hammer nonsense
jdm is on to something about her face – my guess is a profound commitment to the daily joys of boxed wine.

They are covering up the fact that her real senate nickname is “Steely Dan.”

Happy Smith didn’t make news last evening on Arraigny Night in Georgia! (apologizes to Brook Benton)
“Just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican congressmen”. ~ Donald Trump
Nothing sums up the rotten core of the current GOP ecosystem better than this statement.

Feminism was invented so unattractive women could have access to mainstream society.

I’m betting that, just like her mentor Piglosi, she was one of many DemoCommies that made large sums from insider trading.

^ Although I like your formulation, I don’t believe it’s true. Early feminists (1. generation, the 60s) were inveterate complainers and whiners and some were also neurotic, narcissistic, and worse. They had friends or friends of friends in the NY media world who gave them platforms on which to spew their bilious nonsense. It sorta took off from there.

100 years ago a woman who bragged about causing abortions would have been hanged. 200 years ago, she would have been burned as a witch.

Frankly, I’m surprised that the DemoCommie Gestapo hasn’t come to see me after all of the emails that I’ve sent my “elected” representatives. I just hammered the idiot Nathan Coulter after his utterly stupid Tweet last week. Told him I was coming to his house at 2:00 a.m. with a bullhorn to further express my displeasure with his narcissism. Still haven’t received a reply.

Yep.No connection or connections with the working class:
Early life and education
Smith was born on March 4, 1958,[5] in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of Christine, a teacher, and F. Harlan Flint, a lawyer.[6] She mostly grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, attending Manderfield and Acequia Madre Elementary.[7] She finished high school in Northern California.[6]
Before going to college, Smith worked on the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. She graduated from Stanford University with a degree in political science, and later earned a master’s degree in business administration from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.[8]

This ignores the gender split with women increasingly voting for democrats and men for republicans. It also ignores that young voters prefer the Democratic Party. 2024 will be about women and genZ.

I just filled out the property tax refund forms for 2021 and 2022. $184 refunded for ~$6800 paid in over 2 years.
I missed the spinning ocular dollar signs.

Lots of predictions here. I’ll make one. Trump will continue to make terrible misjudgments which will sink him deeper into the mess he’s created. I don’t know what they’ll be. But Trump’s whole career has been defined by misjudgments. And he’s not going to change now.
August 16th, 2023 at 3:09 pm
It is a mess he created only if the election wasn’t stolen which cannot be determined at this point, because nobody is allowed to see the paper ballots, if they even exist anymore.
Purple fingers. One day only. Counted in public. That’s how you run a transparent election.

Read the indictment. It does not take up the question of protected speech but instead, details Trump’s corrupt intent to overthrow an election.
Speech is not a defense against this indictment and it will go nowhere as an argument in this case.
Read the indictment.
