Walking Back…Most Of Their Assertions, To Be Honest

I recently suggested a new on-going feature, walking back the lies.  I have another item for the column.

The Best and Brightest people who sneered at Conservatives as ignorant, hateful racists for suggesting the debunked idea that a lab in Wuhan was the source of the virus and the Chinese were covering it up – are walking back the lie.  It seems  the virus may indeed have originated in Wuhan and the Chinese may indeed have covered it up.

No apology of course.  No admission that Conservatives were right all along.  We don’t insist on that, don’t expect it, and would be astonished if it were forthcoming.

But somebody should remember and therefore the purpose of this ongoing feature.  We were right.  And they knew it.

Joe Doakes

Series? Not a bad idea at all.

It’s verging on a Berg’s Law of “Fact-Checking” – something to the effect of “to the ‘fact-check’ caste, truth is directly correlated to “did a progressive say it”.

Thinking.

  1. If I’m not mistaken, the CDC has walked back their conclusion regarding the use of hydroxychloroquine for treating the Chinese flu.

    Or maybe they’ve walked back their walk back. Or was it Fauchi denied walking back until an earlier story surfaced proving he hadn’t walked forward?

  2. Dr. Pete;
    You are correct. In fact, the AMA was the first organization to change their stance on it, followed by the CDC. I’m sure the Front Line Doctors group that came out in favor of HCQ, but were canceled, with Dr. Simone Gold, who was forced to resign her position at an LA hospital, to protect her team, won’t be seeing any apologies, either. If I were her, I would be organizing law suits against both the hospital and the AMA.

  3. Fauci Knew About HCQ In 2005 – Nobody Needed To Die.

    The Virology Journal – the official publication of Dr. Fauci’s National Institutes of Health – published what is now a blockbuster article on August 22, 2005, under the heading – get ready for this – Chloroquine is a potent inhibitor of SARS coronavirus infection and spread […] Write the researchers, “We report […] that chloroquine has strong antiviral effects on SARS-CoV infection of primate cells. These inhibitory effects are observed when the cells are treated with the drug either before or after exposure to the virus, suggesting both prophylactic and therapeutic advantage.”

    This means, of course, that Dr. Fauci has known for 15 years that chloroquine and its even milder derivative hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) will not only treat a current case of coronavirus (“therapeutic”) but prevent future cases (“prophylactic”).

  4. Around April or May, there was an article detailing a couple American labs, one with a connection to China, that were working on viruses and immunology. Funding was stopped to all, but one, when scientists voiced concerns that what they were working on could either accidentally get out and infect a large population or be used as chemical warfare. I can’t remember why the one wasn’t defunded, and it would take a lot of digging to find that article now. But, I definitely saw this virus differently after that.
