Panic

Joe Doakes from Como Park emails:

Hillary criticized Trump’s efforts to contain North Korean aggression, while she was speaking at a conference in China on Tuesday.  She wants to see the six-party talks brought back (North Korea walked out in 2009 to resume its nuclear weapons program).

A few hours later, North Korea launched an intercontinental ballistic missile at Japan.  It was not carrying a nuclear warhead  . . . this time.

And still, she wonders why people would rather vote for an orange orangutan than vote for her.

I’m amused by people blaming Trump for the fracas last week in Hawaii.  As if the Hawaii emergency management people wouldn’t have made the same mistake, engendering the same panic, under HIllary.

  1. Let’s hope that the North Koreans designed their missile launch software better than the Hawaii state government designed its North Korean missile launch alert software.

  2. The linked article is from around Thanksgiving, 2017, but the email is written as if it was within the last few days. Am I missing something here?

My understanding is that N & S Korea are in talks now for the first time in years. I seem to recall the S Korean president stating it was because if Trump.

I don’t quite understand this post.

  3. jdm, you’re right, it was written earlier.

I send Mitch emails whenever I see something that I consider interesting. Some days, he gets pelted with them, other days, nothing. This is Mitch’s blog so he decides what content to run and when to run it, if he runs it at all. Occasionally, there’s a lag between my sending and his posting, as there was here.

The essential point remains valid: Trump has done more to create the possibility of peace between the two Koreas than anybody else in the last 50 years (see: joint Olympic team proposal, for example). Democrats who criticize him for refusing to perpetuate their failed policies aren’t just missing the point, they’re completely oblivious to it.

    Sorry for the confusion.

  4. I went on FB after the Hawaii calamity & made a joking comment about being in a bunker with some Japanese tourists I was sheltering. I asked if the fact that it was a false alarm meant that I had to refund their money.
I immediately got a stern lecture from a commenter telling me that it was my duty to protect the tourists for nothing & what was wrong with me?
There are a lot of stupid people on facebook.

  5. Joe, no need for an apology. I merely looked for an explanation; which I know have and with which I am quite satisfied.

Democrats don’t care about policies, unless they’re pointless. I reference #BringBackOurGirls or Twin Cities Light Rail as examples of this. Leftists also like
easy to implement and requiring no effort, but regardless money is never an object.
