The Pale Imitation

By Mitch Berg

Not only does the new local deep-lefty-pocket-financed “Daily Mole” provide a shoddy knock-off of “citizen journalism”…

…it provides and even shoddier knockoff of our own regular (some might say chronic) commenter Angryclown.

Pathetic.  Even my commenters are better than the Mole’s “regular” contribs.

It truly is better here.

Good grief, that clown looked like John Wayne Gacy

    (shudder)

  2. Slash Says:

You think that’s bad. You should have seen Clown Torture.

I’m sorry, I mean Clown Enhanced Interrogation Techniques.

Angryclown liked the PSA video. Not so much the blatant trademark infringement. Legal proceedings have been instituted.

  4. Chad The Elder Says:

But do they have their own Peev? (shudder)

  5. Badda Says:

No one would wish that on those folks.

    Hmmm, on the other hand…

Was it just the name, or perhaps the visual as well?
    Just curious.

I think this is a lot like the Vanilla ice/queen song.

One side we have The Angry Clown. On the other, our very own angryclown. Clearly different. I have no comment on which is The Vanilla Ice and which is the Queen.

Chad.. you must be my alter ego, you don’t seem to have much to add here, ever, the difference is, you’ve got your own blog to not add much with too – I don’t have the required level of vanity.

Mitch, you toss about ‘deep-pocketed lefty blog’ so often, it no longer has meaning. Powerline is depp pocketed too, by your loose standard, as would be MDE – since – as I recall, they considered it a first amendment right violation to disclose funding.. was that MDE or was it KVM, it all blurs together over time with you righties, maybe it was Fraters (j/k)… either way, your evidence of ‘deep pockets’ seems to be unsubstantiated comments made by dubious sources. No less dubious than Paul O’Neill or Richard Clarke anyway. It’s clear accuracy isn’t the calling card on this point – I wonder if we did a little snooping into the movers behind Minnesota Tax Payers League, what we’d find? It seems that there’s about as much evidence of ‘deep pockets’ there as there is behind your allegations, and out of state deep pockets at that. Pot meets kettle.

except peeve, that we have documented grant disclosures from left wing foundations to the coffers of CIM. One of them alone was for over $100K.

Do I really need to dig up links?

    what the hell

To be fair (to me), by the time an idea gets through the puree cycle you seem to put ’em through, none of ’em do.

Powerline is depp pocketed too, by your loose standard,

Powerline would have nothing to do with “my standard!” They have deep pockets (relatively speaking) from their day jobs and – as a result of their success – their ad revenues. There is nobody in DC paying for them to get a message out.

    Do you get the distinction?

as would be MDE – since – as I recall, they considered it a first amendment right violation to disclose funding..

MDE’s distinction is fuzzier, but not for any of the reasons you cite. He’s a political consultant who blogs. Is the money he gets for campaign consulting a quid pro quo for his blogging? I say “I doubt it”, his detractors say “but of course”. It has nothing to do with the First Amendment, and never did.

either way, your evidence of ‘deep pockets’ seems to be unsubstantiated comments made by dubious sources.

Your evidence that “my evidence of deep pockets seems to be…” is your habit of chalking all dissent up to other peoples’ supposed incompetence.

I noted – correctly, like 1,000 times – that the Center for Independent Media sublet offices from Media Matters. You can say that that doesn’t imply a financial relationship, but that’d be really obtuse.

Commenter Master of None has also documented some of their funding.

Now, they certainly have a right to accept any funding they want. But it’d be useful for the news consumer to know who is paying for the “news”.

It’s clear accuracy isn’t the calling card on this point – I wonder if we did a little snooping into the movers behind Minnesota Tax Payers League, what we’d find?

Donors – people and groups – who oppose taxes and want someone to lobby to keep ’em under control!

Here’s an idea; go ask David Strom and Phil Krinkie! They’ve always been pretty open about these things.

It seems that there’s about as much evidence of ‘deep pockets’ there as there is behind your allegations, and out of state deep pockets at that.

The TPL isn’t exactly a “news” organization, and it isn’t in the least bit obtuse about its ideology. The Minnesota Monitor and the “Mole” both are.

    Pot meets kettle.

Only if you completely suspend logic and artificially link a couple of unrelated issues more or less at will. Sure!

Peev- But at least I don’t add much using 1/1000th the number of words you do. The difference is that I save my long-winded rants for my own blog rather than foisting them on the poor SITD readers. You may consider that vain, but at least I’m not leeching off what others have established through their own hard work.
