For Your Own Good

By Mitch Berg

Smoke-free crusaders may now be at your door

One anti-smoking group will kick-start a campaign this week to encourage landlords to outlaw smoking in their buildings. While the program would be purely voluntary for now, some communities might follow two California cities by considering broader ordinances that would apply to multi-unit dwellings.Smoke-free groups are also considering pushes to restrict drivers who smoke with kids in their cars, park users who smoke and even cigarette-dangling youth-sport coaches. Still, condos and apartments appear to be the next battleground in the state’s smoking wars.

And after that, maybe they can go after people who talk on their cell phones in the rest room?

Maybe?

Because that is a scourge upon the land.

The best way to punk a restroom cell phone user (whilst in the stall): multiple flushings. The acoustics in most public restrooms (and where I flushed a teenage violator) provide maximum decibel blockage. 🙂

I did that the other day (in a restroom on a floor other than the one I work on).

And yes, the acoustics on my double-urinal onslaught were magnficent!

Public health folks have been doing this sort of thing for a long time.

They think a little tyranny here and there can’t be bad as long as they have the consent of their conscience.

Smokers are more likely to be working class renters. The left has stopped even pretending that they rule in the name of the lower classes.

The best of luck to you, flash!
