Pronouns: Ass/Kicked

By Mitch Berg

I have a few transgender people in y social circle. All of them did their transitions, for whatever reason, as adults. I treat them with respect. They (mostly) reciprocate – I’ve had no ugly little moments over pronouns.

Because that’s kinda the point – voluntary human interaction requires some degree of mutual respect, as opposed to using every interaction as an excuse to try to squeedge a publicly-airable grievance out onto social media – something that might be equally well-termed “narcissism”.

And some of the LGB crowd is seeing it the same way.

Gay black guy comments on videos of Trans people complaining about being “misgendered”:

And I think he nails it.

One of many highlights: “If you’ve been to 25 restaurants and everyone’s calling you “Sir’, there’s a theme and consensus“.

Of course, as Camille Paglia points out, it’s not all laughs and games:

Thanks. Interesting video w/ Ms Paglia. I was surprised she wasn’t shouted down.

I don’t mean to redirect the topic, but her comments about the (hyper-)masculine barbarians massing on the borders of these failing societies and cultures was really interesting. Although it probably would’ve headed off into the weeds – like a threadjack – her comments really kind of touch on the mindless importation of primarily military age young men from MENA and south(of the US) America.

And indeed, I’ve been watching music videos from Mexico. Young Mexicans are intensely proud of their country, their language, their culture. Whether located in Mexico (Mexican Fusca) or part of the long-term Chicano culture in the US (Decalifornia), it doesn’t matter; in short, it’s happening, just as Ms Paglia describes.

Sorry, that mention in passing about narcissism is also really interesting.

How does a culture come to be dominated by narcissism. Is it nature? Nurture? It seems to me that the transgender movement and it’s manifestation as the video shows is the conclusion of a path towards a widespread and sick narcissism.

Narcissism may best be explained by going back to the origin of the term. In the Greek myth, Narcissus falls in love with his reflection in a pool of water.

These days, rather than having to go to the pool, the pool comes to us in the form of Facebook, Instagram and TicToc. One only has to observe the shallowness and self-absorption of influencers to see how the mind-virus works.

The first video is really good. I wasn’t familiar with Amir, but he’s subtly funny. “I’m blacker than 11:59 p.m.” Classic!

What strikes me about the behavior of many of the “trans advocates” is that it suggests very strongly to me things like anger management issues and other signs of clear mental illness. I remember as a kid, my mom loved my blond, thick hair, and it was grown out a bit longer in the 1970s style….until the South Shore conductor thought, despite my broad swimmers’ shoulders, that I was a girl.

After that, she never could cut my hair as short as I wanted it, and it wasn’t an accident a few years later that I got a high & tight flattop. But I didn’t pour invective out on the poor conductor who was only doing the best he could. So what many in the trans community are saying is that they do not have the maturity and self-control of an 11 year old boy. Just sayin’.

I consider these “people” mentally sick and treat them as such. If any of them ever attempt to make me say anything I’ll get right up close to their likely masked face and purple hair and give it right back to them. If they behave normally and civilly I will reciprocate.
