Been Down This Road Before

The DFL wants “assisted suicide”:

https://twitter.com/FOX9/status/1699592204036042967

Further evidence of Big Left’s contempt for human life.

Fearless predictions:

2024: “assisted suicide” for specific conditions.

2026: “Conditions” list expanded to include depression, fatigue. (Like Canada)

2030: List expanded again to include “state thinks you’re too expensive (Netherlands)

2033: List includes political undesirables.

What’s the deal with that hand in the image?

2033: List includes political undesirables coerced (aka intimidated, pressured, or just forced) into requesting assisted suicide.

The question I’ve been asking for decades now regarding this subject is simple; since when do we want the heirs to help choose when they’re going to get their inheritances? A secondary question is “since when do we want medical providers to be able to cover their mistakes with a procedure like this?” Third, “since when do we want insurance companies and federal agencies like Medicare and Medicaid to be able to balance their budgets this way?”.

I can see some reluctance to undergo heroic care when the case is futile, but this is a step too far.

There is a lot more assisted suicide going on than people think, and it is not necessarily a bad thing.
In Hawaii, they will not do an autopsy on a person who dies in hospice. On the death certificate, the cause of death put down as whatever fatal condition the sick person had when admitted to hospice. It kind of has to be this way when the primary care giver (spouse/son or daughter) is told: give the patient morphine until the pain goes away.

It’s really not that bad in Canada. Most of them are glad to have the option to make a free choice to end their lives if they are suffering. Just as they like women to have a free choice to end a pregnancy.

You see, it’s not just life that’s important — It’s quality of life. If I don’t own my own life, what freedom do I really have?

Let’s not be blind to what really goes on during end of life care in America. People are entered into hospice. This allows people to be medicated to death, peacefully and legally.

While Mitch Berg may find nobility in people lingering in unending pain and misery, many others do not. Why do conservatives, who loathe government interference in the private sector, have such a problem with personal choice and autonomy?

What Greg says, Emery. In the Netherlands and Belgium, there are hundreds of cases of euthanasia for psychological disorders annually, along with a disturbing number of cases of involuntary euthanasia and even euthanasia of children.

If you’re good with that, Emery, maybe Cuba or Russia is for you.

    Good points.
There was a critical element that found it very telling that WuFlu was more serious and caused the most deaths in older people, followed by those with compromising medical conditions. The ghouls that put infected elderly people into assisted and senior living centers, were most likely acting on orders from Klaus Schwab or Bill Gates.

As it happens, I have a member of my extended family in hospice. The hospice team has been an advocate for better care for my family member. They have done nothing to hasten death.

Neighbor works in a nursing home: This happens every day, but we pretend it doesn’t. They call it ‘comfort care’. A family or POA can request it, no questions asked, and from that point on, no attempt is made to cure anything. Not even a UTI, if that is what the family wants. After a few days or weeks, they offer them ‘the cocktail’. Morphine and Ativan to ‘make them comfortable’. So comfortable they don’t eat or drink and that’s that.

You are dreaming if you think euthanasia does not occur here.

The Emery Collective instructs us on the intersection of morality and law: You are dreaming if you think ___ does not occur here; therefore, it should be legal.

Fill in the blank with your favorite perversion – murder, rape, cannibalism, deviant sex and now ‘expedited inheritance.’

I have become entirely convinced that there is no pearl that the SiTD collective will leave unclutched nor any straw they will avoid trying to grasp.

I suggest that both start of life (abortion) and end of life (euthanasia and aggressive life support) are two areas that anyone, of any political persuasion, should recognize as the province of personal conscience and personal choice.

I honestly don’t care, one bit, about what you think about choices you have no right inserting yourself into to begin with

Regarding “the cocktail is available”, perhaps in some places here it is, and it is illegal for the reasons I and others have noted above. What I know from personal experience is that when my family members gave my mom an extra “hit” of morphine to try and help her with her pain, a nurse came by and stopped us within a minute. Most of us didn’t know that morphine suppresses respiration, but she sure did.

And really, Emery, at the beginning and end of life, you seriously need to wrap your mind around the fact that, yes, there are reasons that people will use “termination of life” to achieve various horrific ends. At the beginning of life, it’s how rapists hide the evidence of their crimes in many cases–that’s why Planned Parenthood has steadfastly falsified reports of likely statutory rape for decades. At the end of life, it’s how people get inheritances quicker, hide medical mistakes, reduce insurance costs, and more. It’s well documented, Emery. Wake up.

Didn’t I read that Canada wants to enable underage children the option to commit suicide without their parent’s knowledge. And for reasons that have nothing to do with a fatal disease rather for oh say the child is depressed. If so, this is indeed where MN will go. Where are your limits Emery?????

The Emery Collective takes a Libertarian stand on abortion and suicide – it’s a personal choice over which only the individual should have control. Okay, that’s a valid intellectual position. But then what about the Covid “vax” or paper masks which do not prevent transmission of the virus and provide no protection to others? My body, my choice?

What about praying for the souls of sinners – should that be a crime? What about personal services for child molesters – should society compel them?

The overarching theme of The Emery Collective’s position does not seem to be “maximizing personal liberty” but more “whatever I want whenever I want it.” That’s not a sound basis for government. That’s totalitarianism, straight-up.

Cut Emery some slack. He’s just a stuck in the past, perpetuator of the patriarchy, blue-dog old time liberal.

To be progressive means to push boundaries and break through glass ceilings. This last legislature, progressives pushed the “start of life” right up to the edge of birth, next term we go beyond. Next session, we also go for euthanasia and in the next, we work back from there.

Humans are blight on the earth – and working from both ends, we will end the travesty that is humanity.
