On The One Hand…
By Mitch Berg
…an academic who is also one of the architects of modern “woke” culture not publishing any academic work in four years is…well, raising eyebrows:
Boston University Professor Ibram Kendi has not published an academic paper in at least four years, according to his Google Scholar profile.
The professor, who popularized the term “anti-racism,” wrote at least two children’s books in the same period.
Professor Kendi is currently “on leave” from his job as the director of his own Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University, which he founded after leaving a similar role at American University.
On the other hand, among leftist academics, four years is kind of a piker. Get back to us when he’s gone a solid decade or more, like this old friend of ours.

Why would Kendi bother writing papers anymore? Isn’t he getting $50k a pop to tell groups of white academicians that they are racists?

Hey, if a prominent politically correct professor decides not to publish–and transitively, not to bring grad students to a masters’ or doctoral degree–who am I to complain? If they “do the Obama” and get lazy, and then their departments have a lot of dead weight, that sounds like a feature, not a bug, to me.
Of course, sane universities might look and say “maybe this guy ought to go” and “maybe if there’s no academic work here, it shouldn’t be a major anymore”, but that’s a secondary question. If we have to have departments with the word “studies” in the major, we can do little better than to have lazy, do-nothing professors in that department.

Let me guess, he had not produced anything in 4 years but is still getting (or was getting for most of that time) a paycheck from the BU. What a gig!

Kendi has correctly decided that his job is not to produce peer reviewed research.
