  1. Didn’t CO recently restrict assault weapons? I thought I remembered reading a recent newspaper report from there about how assault weapons are not just used for assaults but that they’re also semi-automatic weapons. And semi-autos are especially dangerous because a new bullet is moved to the chamber automatically after the trigger is pulled to shoot the previous round.

Meaning virtually all guns, except for full autos and actual single shots.

  2. Minneapolis resident: “A guy in a stolen car drove down my street last night shooting at another car. Someone needs to find those people and put them in jail.”
MNDFL: “No, that would be racist. instead we’ll ban extended magazines.”

  3. Children holding fully automatic pistols sideways, emptying the magazine at rivals in the streets, is dangerous to bystanders. We can limit the danger by restricting magazine size.

This will work because we are confident that children who ignore laws on age to possess, background check, permit to carry, automatic weapons conversion and attempted murder will definitely obey laws regarding magazine size. They definitely will not blithely disregard the new law. Definitely not.

  4. Why would anyone need a magazine with 7 rounds?

    Oh…oh…. let me correct that.

Why would anyone need a magazine with only 7 rounds?

  5. And like last time, there will be an exception to the magazine size limit for Law Enforcement so said law enforcement officers will have a moonlighting business selling LE Only magazines on the black market.

Most magazines for Sigs, Glocks, Rugers, and 1911s are not terribly complex devices to build – anybody with access to a sheet metal/auto body shop can make one, or these days a high end consumer grade 3D printer.

  6. Canada is a frontier country, originally full of bears, wolves and outlaws. Guns were just as important to Canadian history and to hunting today.

But you could not find a country more different from the US in gun safety, and in public agreement that strong laws protect citizens against gun terrorism. The handgun homicide rate is less than a tenth of what it is here in the US.

  7. The elephant in the room is that gun crimes are mostly committed by members of easily identified groups. If you look at gun crimes committed by white, middle aged men in the US (aka the “gun nuts” hated by the left) the US gun crime rate is comparable to Norway’s.
It really doesn’t help when anti-gun people stress the fact that blacks are far more likely than whites to be victims of gun crimes without noting the important fact that the victimizer is almost always black as well. You can’t have it both ways. This kind of deep dishonesty by anti-gun people has gone on for so long that it has poisoned the relationship between anti-gun and pro-gun people.

  8. rAT sqeuaked: “ The handgun homicide rate is less than a tenth of what it is here in the US.”

Because their black population is 1/100 of what we have, nitwit.

  9. Which only goes to show that the members of the Emery Collective are either stupid or liars.

America does not have a gun problem. America has a localized behavior problem. In the vast red swaths of America, guns are everywhere but gun crime is negligible because residents are law-abiding. In a few concentraed blue cities, guns are heavily regulated but gun crime is out of control because some of those residents are scoff-laws.

Not all of them, just a small group. We know who the people behaving badly are, we can identify their specific racial and socio-economic group, we could cut gun crime to nothing if we cracked down on the people behaving badly. But then people like the Emerys would call us bad names. So decent people move away from the blue city shitholes and turn a blind eye to Those People killing each other.

Canadians are not more virtuous than Americans. They are more homogenous. They have fewer of Those People, the ones committing gun crimes. So naturally, Canada has less gun crime. This is not hard to understand. Unless understanding is not your goal. Which for the Emery Collective, seems to be the case.

  10. Also, huge difference in mindset.

People ruled by a monarch are not free citizens of a republic, they are subjects of the crown. They do not believe in inalienable rights, they believe in government-granted privileges revocable at whim (as we saw during the trucker’s strike).

People who broke free of the monarchy centuries ago are unwilling to behave as subjects of the crown but instead insist on behaving as free citizens who have God-given rights including the right to defend themselves and their families from criminals and – if need be – from their own government.

    Applies to oranges, Emery Collective.

  11. Fear begets fear and then the shooting starts. The rest of the advanced world is able to manage itself without the need for civilians to be armed to the teeth.

Guns have a huge societal cost. Short of very strict control, I’d love to see the full cost of guns to be born by the owners. An annual tax. Pay for all the added security in buildings, schools, airports, sporting events, etc. Pay for the medical costs. Pay for burial expenses of victims. Pay for the additional costs to police departments due to the prevalence of guns. Pay for the prisons we need for the those irresponsible with guns. Pay for all the costs we as a society must pay due to gun owners rights. All of these marginal costs should be borne by the gun owners.

  12. (Bill Gleason’s protégé)Emery,

“An annual tax” you say. Good Idea!

I would whole heartedly support your annual tax if it were coupled with a Poll Tax. I mean it only seems fair if we are to start taxing civil rights!

You’re not an expert if you don’t have the credentials!

You love to brag about your indicia of wealth and privilege, why not brag about your CV?
What colleges count you among their alum?
What bachelor degrees do you hold?
Where did you get your Masters?
Where did you get your JD?
Where did you get your PhD(s)? What was it like to work with Bill Gleason?
Where did you get your MD, what internships did you complete?

  13. Again, Bot Boy shows what he is. A propaganda spewing lap dog of Chairman Xi. In fact, he’s probably the leader of the local Chinese police department.

  14. Mac
a national means based Poll Tax payable at the time of ballot casting would certainly clear up many of the recent problems with voting irregularities.

Thanks Emery for suggesting such a necessary change to our republic!

  15. Don’t need a poll tax.
Just do this: when you go to your polling place to vote, you can either vote, or you can get a ten dollar bill, one or the other. But that’s paying people not to vote, you say? Simple. If you vote, you still get the saw buck, in the form of a check mailed to you within 30 days.

  16. Gun Deaths Per 100,000 Residents By State

What’s clear, unmistakable fatal pattern ?

The more reckless the state gun laws are and the more guns there are in the state, the more gun deaths there are per capita.

  17. What a great Idea Emery
We could monetize ALL Our Civil Rights, your good friend Jeffery Epstein didn’t have to die!

In Your new world order since we know that anyone who “takes the fifth” is lying we could require they post a bond before they do. That way if they’re convicted the State recovers the cost of the trial (plus a little extra) and if they’re acquitted they get their money(minus the cost of the trial) back\

    You’re a genius Emery!

  18. Fear mongering by statistics is tricky stuff, Emery Collective. It’s hard to hide the errors. If they are errors, and not intention deception.

If you’re hoping to frighten Liberal suburban soccer moms, Gun Deaths per 100,000 sounds frightening. But it’s the wrong measurement. 2/3 of all gun deaths are old white men committing suicide outstate. That’s not a problem for Liberals, that’s a social good, ridding the world of toxic masculinity.

What you’re hoping will frighten Liberal suburban soccer moms is Murders, but there are hardly any outstate. The true measure is by county and then it becomes obvious this is a Hennepin/Ramsey problem. Everybody already knows that, which is why white flight is accelerating.

    Try harder, boyz.

  19. American gun deaths and gun death math are not meaningless unless you reject American humanity and math.

Japan averages about ten gun deaths per year…abut the same number of gun deaths the USA has every two hours.

I’m sure that’s also meaningless to you.

Sometimes it’s better to lift your head up a little higher and look at the civilized world.

  20. Emery
your genius idea of monetizing all civil rights would have to have exceptions otherwise the J6 political prisoners could have paid the appropriate taxes and thus availed themselves of their 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th amendment rights by now.

Otherwise Emery your Monetize All Civil Rights idea is pure genius, I expect nothing less from you!

  21. Oh Emery
    While you’re on a roll here…

Among so many other things you present yourself as an expert on the ethics of abortion so it should not be difficult for you to answer this question…
At what point in your mother’s pregnancy with you would it have become unacceptable for her to abort you?

As a bonus question where can I find the text in the Constitution that supports this claim you made:
“The Constitution before amendment said Clarence Thomas should be counted as 3/5ths of a person.”

  22. Homogenous population. “Subject” mindset, not “citizen.” Oranges to Apples.

Suicide rate per 100,000 equal to USA, except ours are carried out by guns and theirs by other means. Banning the tool doesn’t stop the act.

    Keep trying

  23. By the way, Emeries, your latest ploy continues the “by nation” instead of “by county” and “death” versus “murder” statistical problems. We noticed.

The non-suicide gun death rate in outstate, homogenous, law-abiding, heavily-armed Minnesota is negligible, same as homogenous, law-abiding, completely disarmed Japan. It’s the behavior, not the tool, that matters. It’s Those People acting badly that we must address.

If you’re suggesting the US should round up all of Those People and send them off to, say, Africa, where they can kill each other in peace, okay, I’m open to listening to the details of your plan but it’s got to include Building The Wall so they can’t come walking right back in.

If you’re suggesting the US should round up all of Those People and send them to die in prison camps (like Chinese and Uyghurs), I’ve got a problem with that. Sure, it would make America more homogenous and sure, it would lower the senseless murder rate, but sometimes it’s better to lift your head a little higher and look at the civilized world.

  24. Emery,

Ooof. You’re parroting the latest Giffords propaganda push. To paraphrase you and it: “What’s clear, unmistakable fatal pattern ?”

Why, presenting data out of meaningful context.

Looking at “gun violence” data on a state level is largely a fool’s errand.

When you look at the actual data by county, the actual “fatal pattern” emerges: violence is almost inseparably correlated with two kinds of places:

    • The deep south, in places with long, dominant “Scots-Irish” traditions, where “honor violence” is still a part of life. These places were much more violent than the US average when the South was Democrat. And before the Civil War. And before the US became a nation, or that matter.
    • Urban counties, which are overwhelminglly “blue”

There is literally not a single fact you’ve presented that is, in context, true.

  25. But you could not find a country more different from the US in gun safety

As with American gun control, it’s almost entirely imposed on the places where the bears and moose are, by governments dominated by people from places where they are not.

90% of Canada’s population lives within 100 miles of the US border – a strip which includes nearly all of the nation’s useless ‘progressive’ mouths.

  26. OK, regarding gun deaths, probably the better way to quantify it is as overall homicides, not just gun homicides. Same thing as all suicides, not just gun suicides. OK, so the suicide weapon of choice in the U.S. is guns, but in Japan, it’s knives and hanging, I believe. People in Rwanda have some brutal memories of being killed with knives and clubs to boot.

Now I guess we could get all worried about murders and suicides with guns and not other items, but that would seem to say that it’s not the human life that’s critical, but I differ on that particular.

And a quick correction for Kremlin Tom; the black portion of Canada’s population is 4.3%, approximately one third the share that the are of citizens of the United States. Not 1/100th.

  27. Mitch’s 12:38 is an excellent reminder that gun violence is not exclusively a RACE problem, it is exclusively a BEHAVIOR problem. Too often, Liberals excuse all Bad Behavior on the grounds that it’s White Supremacist to insist that Blacks behave as Whites (honest, hard-working, law-abiding) which is what leads to things like this:

    https://www.the-sun.com/news/1149007/african-american-museum-whiteness-chart-protestant-values/

The problem isn’t entirely race, the problem is entirely behavior. Revenge killing committed by Scots-Irish hillbillies are no better than revenge killings committed by Black gangbangers. I’m against White trash of all colors.

But while the problem isn’t entirely race, it’s demonstrably race-related, as crime statistics show. Dealing with the small portion of the minority race that is the biggest source of Bad Behavior would eliminate the need to do anything about magazines in guns owned by the vast majority of citizens.

Deal with the problem, not the Narrative.

  28. Revenge killing committed by Scots-Irish hillbillies

I wonder if there are stats on revenge and honor killings among hindus and muslims? Oh wait… these are “good” killings… nevermind…

  29. Lawyers for Hunter Biden’s baby mama say that H. Biden moved to the White House to avoid their process servers. Why is this important? The papers he is being served with seek financial records. Lord knows what those papers may show about the entanglement of Joe & Hunter’s finances over the years. It may not be illegal for H. Biden to trade on his father’s name, but is illegal for H. Biden to act as Joe Biden’s bag man.

  30. Funny, jpa!

I would bet most people living in the Deep South know that the Hatfields have a feud with the McCoys so when one turns up dead, they shrug and say, “Whatever.” I would guess nobody in Nashville is worried about a Hatfield shooting up the amusement park, or a neighbor’s graduation party, just because some McCoy happened to be there.

Similarly, if the daughter who dishonered the family by having relations out of wedlock turns up dead, they don’t lock down the schools and call out the Guard.

Those ‘revenge killings’ are qualitatively different from the Ham Crazy Boyz spraying lead around the fairgrounds or freeways.

And none of them will be remotely affected by limiting magazine sizes in Thief River Falls.

  31. Down here in Hicksville, I mean rural North Carolina, it’s not unusual to hear gunfire coming from the surrounding countryside. Yet the vast majority of gun homicides take place in urban areas. Could it be that a less murderous population lives around me?

  32. Hunting, including clay pidgeons, is murder. Just you wait doc, those numbers will be added to crime stats in three… two…

  33. “It’s not the guns, It’s the little assholes you raised with no conscience, control or common sense.”
