  1. Blue States America would be the ones starving since they lack the natural, agricultural resources to feed their population. They also lack the coal, oil, and natural gas to power their grid, their EVs, and most importantly their smart phone selfie devices.
But not to worry, California/New York are working desperately hard to colonize the Red States; first step effectively abolish the Electoral College.

  2. Thats part of my point: when NYC has to pay import price for food, and California for water and energy, their wealth is suddenly a lot more tenuous.

The Blue State economies are built around moving information and numbers – sometimes but not always as value-add to products built, mined, drilled or grown in Red America. It’s possible to sustain an economy built entirely around value-add and moving numbers around. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are great examples.

Of course, it’s good to be part of the top 20% in those countries.

  3. “Normies: OK. Let’s talk national divorce, since you don’t need…”

Great way to shut up a lefty ranting on this. It has more to do with retirees moving to red states and military issues than anyone “carrying” anyone else.

  4. First Republic Bank, now shuttered & sold under duress to Morgan Stanley.
Like Silicon Valley Bank, First Republic was a Woke Bank. That wouldn’t be important, except part of being a Woke Bank is having a high CEI score, and having a high CEI score is supposed to add value to an investment because it measures risk better than a standard balance sheet.
More and more it looks like investing in an enterprise with a high CEI score is like flushing money down the toilet.

  5. I think it’s Vox Day that makes the same sort of argument that you do, Mitch. I’m probably messing it up, but in essence the West controls its citizens by soft means (finances, careers, social acceptance) and is unable to use or simply puzzled by physical reality.

The reality of where energy comes from or how things actually manufactured or how tires are changed or houses are wired (or heated) are all unimportant or less important aspects of life.
