Cold

When Ilhan Omar starts attacking the Strib – which has been rhetorically painting her toenails ever since the beginning of her state-managed-to-a-fault career – you might be forgiven for wondering if the wheels aren’t starting to fall apart over at Team Ilhan.

Scott sums up where the Omar story was as of earlier in the week.

The scandal has pushed the incredible panoply of scandals we have covered in depth on Power Line into the background: the identity fraud, the marriage fraud, the immigration fraud, the tax fraud.
In the past three weeks I have circled back to interview sources whom I have found to be highly reliable in the Omar saga. They open a window onto the scandals from the perspective of Ahmed Hirsi, her long-time partner and the father of her three children. According to sources, Hirsi is telling friends:
• that he will not go to jail for Omar;
• that while Omar did indeed marry her brother (Ahmed Elmi) for fraudulent purposes, Hirsi did not know at the time that she had married Elmi;
• that Omar is threatening Hirsi he would be in trouble along with her if the truth were to come out;
• that Omar has asked him to state publicly that all is well with their marriage even though it is completely done and finished; and
• that in fact they are living apart and have been divorced under Islamic law (although they remain legally married).
Having humiliated Ahmed Hirsi by her affair with Tim Mynett, Omar now wants Hirsi to perform public relations services for her to suppress the scandal. That is cold.

While hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, a husband tossed under the bus for a newer model can do a lot more than write country-western songs. I’m kinda rooting for Hirsi.

And without Power Line and Scott Johnson, the story – her alleged fake marriages, immigration and identity fraud, her tax problems, to say nothing of the philandering – would have stayed safely buried.

  1. I hear Ilhan is in contact with Felonia von Pantsuit on how to handle close associates who have lost their usefulness and possibly become a danger (you know, to themselves).

    I said it before and I’ll say it again, nothing will come of these various scandals. Ilhan belongs to the protected class that is Our Betters and the judicial system will overlook darn near anything they do.

  2. Their divorce is inevitable, and it’s that process that will do what INS / DOJ and the Strib wouldn’t… transcribe with authority that she married her brother.
    She’s going to beatable in a primary at that point.  But ya know, her absurd presence in Congress is actually benefit to Republicanism / Conservatism.

  3. Everyone must pay attention to everything that Ilham Omar says and does, all the time. Except when she doesn’t want attention – doing that would be racist.

    Hirsi will never spill the beans, because although Omar has received threats, the ones against him are real.

  4. ^ I wouldn’t guess his divorce attorney would hold back in a divorce filing where Hirsi wants to get say 3/4 of her income for him and the kids support.

  5. It would be a lot of fun to see Hirsi get most of her income and their children. Really, Omar ought to be very glad that she is not living in her native Somalia right now, where I’m told a rougher form of divorce court awaits adulteresses.

  6. bikebubba;

    You are correct. Two of my Muslim co-workers tell me the same thing. A Muslim man can punish a cheating wife pretty much any way he wants, including killing them. The women in the community could also mete out punishment.

  7. I expect Hirsi will stay as quiet as AG Ellison’s ex-gf on the domestic abuse charge. The local media will squint real hard and determine that there really isn’t anything to see there. And Hirsi will get a pay-off behind the scenes that won’t require a divorce decree; it’s part of the DFL’s “faith tradition”.

  8. Arrogance, disregard for the law, and stupid enough to point the spotlight on herself. She will not survive. The media can’t bury this stuff like they used to.

    Felonia had all those things and more. Ran for president. Almost won. Just sayin’.

  10. ^^ Always remember this is happened because of 70K voters spread across 4 states in majority white unskilled uneducated opioid consuming Fox news addicted communities who thought Trump was the perfect way to give the middle finger to the rest of the country.

  11. One should always be thankful for small blessings. And I’m appreciative of the proof provided as to why we returned the middle finger to the so-called rest of the country.

  12. I keep hearing people on the Left say that Trump is dividing the country and fostering hatred between its citizens. This is inevitably followed by openly expressed hatred for the half of Americans who voted for Trump.
    If only the Bernie supporters had held their noses and voted for Hillary, everything would be hunky-dory I suppose.

  13. This is what the people voted for. And not just the people who voted for Trump. The 90 million people who didn’t vote — voted for this too. And so did the folks who voted for the Green Party. How green are things looking now?

  14. “My way or the highway,” eh, Emery? Dividing the people into “good” and “bad” voters might be just the tiniest bit devisive, don’t you think?

  15. I find humor in Trump dismantling everything the Green Party stands for. The irony, is a result of their “protest vote” for the Green Party. (How green are things looking now) :^)

  16. I find humor in Trump’s dismantling of everything the Green Party stands for, but probably for different reasons than you do. I like to see wicked people fail. Tickles my funny bone.

  17. Many people don’t realize these are unrepentant terrorists. Many people. Once Trump learned that the Taliban sometimes kill people (!!!), he cut off negotiations.

    This was a good call by Trump, but Trump remains without any idea about closing down this conflict and has nobody on his staff with any greater understanding of the situation than he has.

    One more example of Trump blindly blundering into a correct decision with no forethought or consideration of a resolution to the problem.

    I’d give anything for a President who was dependable for a few days at a time.

  18. Hey! Speaking of dependable, you gotta hand it to Obama who quashed an investigation of an Iranian $1B/year drug operation, gave Iran access to U.S. banks to convert $5.7 billion in assets for their use (after promising Iran would not be allowed to use the U.S. financial system), and sent $1.7B in cash carried in US aircraft to Tehran, all to carry through that deal giving Iran a chance to “get right with the world.”

    Of course, Obama being dependably incompetent, the deal was so structured that it allowed Tehran to keep its most advanced technology and gave it a path to a weapon once the sunset clauses kicked in.

    Now that’s dependable.

  19. You can see Trump as payback for Obama. Obama could do no wrong by the press, Trump can do no right by the press.
    Bringing the Taliban to Camp David for negotiations would be described as a bold, groundbreaking move in the attempt to end America’s longest war, if Hillary were prez.

  20. Honestly, just how crazy is it that Trump would spend six days writing countless tweets defending his nutty and totally inaccurate claim that Dorian was going to hit Alabama? Has anything in his presidency ever captured so much of his attention?

    If Trump were mentally balanced, he would have just immediately corrected himself and moved on. But he isn’t, and he can’t.

    It’s also a classic sign of dementia — rigid thought patterns and repeating the same subject again and again.

  21. You are proving Trump’s point for him, Emery. If Trump was as stupid, crazy, and evil as you say he is, and we can still have DJIA at over 26,000 and no new wars, why should ever again anyone is not like Trump?
    It’s the democrats who are insane, Trump is governing like an Eisenhower Republican.

  22. Trump has now created a chaotic foreign policy of addled goals or false goals or nonsensical goals separated from any need for justification or even consistency. Everything is referential to one disabled personality. Justification in the Trump administration means the suppression or ignoring of contradicting intelligence or policy critique. It’s a policy of malpractice through gross negligence and reckless disregard. If so, can treble damages not be far behind?

  23. You have Trump, in large part, because intelligence and policy wonks have proven to be abject failures in the past. What is an intelligent response to the failure of the “intelligence community” to foresee the collapse of the USSR or Saddam Hussein’s lack of WMD? Or the “Russian Collusion” hoax? You also have the sad story of international policy “experts” engineering the conversion of the USSR into a unfriendly kleptocracy. The fast-track privatization of Soviet state assets was applauded, even guided by Western economic “experts,” including the editors of The Economist.

  24. I thought the discussion was about Omar. Seems Emery hijacked the thread to satisfy his TDS.

  25. What would Republicans have done if Obama had invited the Taliban to Camp David days before the 18th anniversary of 9/11?
