Because Washington DC is SOOO much more expensive than New York.

Landlords in New York are tough because they deal with low-life tenants: drug dealers, pimps and whores, thieves, artists, students, Liberals.
Landlords in D.C deal with all of that plus politicians, too. I’ll bet the security deposits are staggering.

You know, it is entirely possible that she’s incapable of reading her bank accounts and realizing that she is in fact capable of making a security deposit. :^)This is, after all, the lady who loves the Gini coefficient, but cannot figure out the implications of basic supply and demand.
OK, more likely is that yes, she’s lying, but you know, Hanlon’s Razor and all.

Perhaps she should look in to renting out the basement room that Norm Coleman rented while he was in the Senate. Of course, that was used against him, too.
