Socratic Debate, Minneapolis “Progressive” Style

“Woman” (probably) throws drink at conservative minx Tomi Lahren – local liberal hamsters applaud like trained chimps.

This article by the City Pages’ relentlessly dumb Mike Mullen:

The Fox News contributor apparently stopped and turned back to confront the water-thrower’s table, at which point a man yelled, “Fuck that bitch!,” “Fuck that hoe!,” “Racist-ass bitch!,” before asking: “Why you even out here?”

Within a couple seconds, she wasn’t: Lahren ended the confrontation and left the scene. The woman left standing there talking to patrons after Tomi retreats might just be Lahren’s mom: TMZ reports “some of the water got on Tomi’s mom as well.”

TMZ also passes along information from “sources close to Tomi,” who report that this drink-throwing was “completely unprovoked.” Completely! Except for, like, 500 things she’s said on national television.

That anyone can make me actually root for Lahren should tell you something.

And the fact is (and it is a fact), at best Minnesota “progressives'” notion of debate runs to:

  • One round of factoids
  • A round or two of logical fallacies (mostly ad hominem and strawmen)
  • A round or two of name-calling
  • If they haven’t broken off and run away, physical violence.

But let’s just bask in all that Minneapolis “progressive” tolerance.

  1. It’s really hard to find a coherent narrative about this kerfuffle. As I wrote to a friend, I know she’s cute and blonde but I wouldn’t recognize Lahren in a public situation; certainly not well enough to verbally abuse her or throw a drink at her. But a whole restaurant full of leftists did?

I’ll grant that my powers of public reticence far exceed those of the normal leftist (think Cheesecake Factory and MAGA hats), but there’s something missing in this.

  2. I, too, was wondering how all of these people who supposedly disagree with Lauren even recognized her. I hadn’t heard of her befy. When I did a Google search, I didn’t find much, except that that she has been on The View. (An interview in which she apparently said she supported abortion). After looking her up, I came away wondering if the water throwing was staged so she could get more attention.

  3. Well, the guys on the other radio station covered this at length yesterday.

Supposedly, the water thrower is a Page for Senate Democrats in St. Paul and the Deputy Communications Director of the state Communist, I mean Democrat party, applauded the action.

  4. Very strange, but it seems that the Instagram post has been deleted. I wonder why…

Given that they have a tentative identification, isn’t this action technically assault and battery? While I’ve never seen Tomi, nor her attacker, she could certainly make life pretty uncomfortable for that Page. At the very least she should extract an apology and remind folks that civility is required for civilization, something that the “liberals” seem to have forgotten.

  5. It is assault. The next step in the Democrats’ hat campaign is to normalize violence against conservatives.
