Climate Of Hate, Part MMMCMLXXX

By Mitch Berg

GOP office in heavily-Democrat suburban Durham, North Carolina was firebombed over the weekend…

…and sprayed with crude, threatening graffiti.

nc-firebomb

Hillary Clinton and NC state Democrats condemned the attack – and the police currently have no suspects (although if anyone wants to take the bet that they were Democrats, most likely college-age, feel free to write the check in advance).

The incident rated only the most cursory coverage in the national media, if any.

Is anyone as shocked as I am?

When you show up at my perimeter looking for shelter, make sure you bring, at a minimum, a usable skill and enough food to supply yourself and your company until spring planting season.

  2. Deplorable Swiftee Says:

And ID. Don’t forget your ID.

  3. FRESCHFISCH Says:

Listening to The Neighbor this morning and CBS news never said it was a “Republican” campaign office, they just called it a “campaign office”.

    Imagine that.

  4. Chuck Says:

Southern Democrats firebomb a political office……wait, is it 1960?

But as you always say, Republicans think Democrats are wrong. Democrats think Republicans are pure evil. That is what leads to this.

  5. Chuck Says:

Registered voters in that county…..16% Republican. And you’ll recall the stat from UNC where there are virtually no Republicans on the teaching staff. A professor from UNC had a column in the Charlotte Observer stating that Republicans aren’t fit to be college professors. We are all ignorant and uneducated. That more things change…….

  6. Night Writer Says:

Meanwhile, over the weekend the Strib was breathlessly reporting on the three chowders in Kansas arrested for conspiracy to bomb a mosque and initiate a “Somali bloodbath”, with follow-up stories about how Muslims don’t feel safe in this climate of hate.

  7. bosshoss429 Says:

I think that we should find out where Doggy was this weekend. 😃

  8. Ian in Iowa Says:

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. If it turns out to be unhinged UNC lefties, I fully expect the MSM to be consistent and pursue the college professors and campus hate groups who encouraged violence against a group based on their political affiliation, but I won’t hold my breath.

Went over and checked DG’s unbalanced tirades on that other site. No mention of this. By DG and Pen’s “logic”, their deafening silence on this SPEAKS VOLUMES!

    /sarc

  9. escapefromstl Says:

Saw that as well, NW. We all know if it was 3 Somalis arrested in a plot to blow up Americans in their apartments there would be no mug shots released. It would have only said “Three Suspects Held in Apartment Bombing Investigation” if it was even reported at all.

  10. Deplorable Swiftee Says:

NW, I especially appreciated how the leftist MSM elevated 3 drunk hillbillies to MILITIA status.

    Wonder which was the Commander?

  11. Prince of Darkness_666 Says:

Something tells me that internal polling from the clinton camp says things are a lot closer than the story being force fed to us. And talk about lack of coverage, if it was the other way around it would be the lead story on every cable news channel

  12. Deplorable Swiftee Says:

    Curious….

UNC and Duke have been working feverishly to further feminize beta males.

The obvious question is, “is the emasculation procedure not working, or working exactly as envisioned”?

  13. Joe Doakes Says:

Either you’re too easy, Swiftee, or your growing season is better than ours.

I don’t need enough food to last until Spring, because Spring is when we plant – there’s nothing ripe, yet.

I don’t need enough food to last until Summer, because summer is when crops grow, they can’t be eaten, yet.

I need enough food to last until Harvest and that’s a whole year away.

The Mormons recommend each member store a year’s supply of food for their family, so they don’t become a burden on the congregation in hard times. I wonder if they also store a year’s supply of bullets, to discourage Liberals seeking to redistribute the wealth?

  14. Deplorable Swiftee Says:

Joe, with some care, truck patches will grow down here year round, but you’re right. I better make it at least enough to last until spring AND a few boxes of Macanudo maduros OR enough food to last a year.

  15. Joe Doakes Says:

You know the story of the ant and the grasshopper? The ant worked hard all summer storing up food while the grasshopper played in the sun. When winter came, the ant had food but the grasshopper had none.

So all the grasshoppers banded together to impose a Windfall Profits Tax on Hoarders in order to more fairly distribute community resources to insects in need.

  16. Dog Gone Says:

What a shame that you left out that the Democratic office was also attacked, and that they had graffiti too, around the same time.

Oh, didn’t your right wing media happen to mention that? Of course not, they want you selectively ignorant!

Given the timing it is entirely possible both attacks were by the same people.

My personal theory, given the steady decline in polling numbers for Trump and in advance of the approaching 3rd debate. Heck, I’d give it 50 50, maybe even 60 40 that this will turn out to be some dim-bulb right wingers who are looking to give Trump something to whine about, because conservatives love playing the victim when they are not. And tin foil hat wearing conservative conspiracy theorists DO love their ‘false flag’ premise.

The actual damage looks to be to an old dumpy couch and some of the surrounding dry wall, not the serious damage that a more serious attempt could do.

People who do this kind of crime have a high rate of getting caught. Let’s wait to see what happens here, and who turns out to be the bad guy(s).

  17. bosshoss429 Says:

    JD for the win!

Re your earlier comment; I know several Mormons that have a good ammo stockpile, along with their food. In fact, all members of the families over the age of 10, are good enough shots that they can defend themselves against the libidiot apocalypse.

  18. Mitch Berg Says:

    DG,

What on earth are you talking about?

  19. Fat-shaming Bento Guzman Says:

    Going into the wayback machine:
    http://www.politico.com/story/2010/03/perriello-gas-line-intentionally-cut-035040
It was hilarious the way the media fell all over themselves to . . . say what, exactly? Imply that ‘angry right wingers’ had . . . well, nothing. The’cut gas line’ was on a frikkin’ barbeque. No hint by the investigators over who did it or, especially, when it was done.
Seriously? These ‘angry right wingers’ had committed that terroristic act of . . . sneaking onto to the brother of a congressman’s porch and cutting the propane line on his gas barbeque? Those things don’t even spew gas anymore, they have safety features . . . in case a gas line brakes!
No follow up. The smear was complete. Time to move on.

  20. Mitch Berg Says:

Oh, yeah – I remember that episode, BG.

DG kept citing that as a prima facie example of right-wing terrorism for a solid year or two.

  21. bikebubba Says:

DG, I presume that your vast array of well informed contacts includes a sheetrocker and an electrican who will tell you that charred drywall and smoke penetration pose no danger for a building? That the smoke and heat that got to the HVAC systems pose no risk?

Sorry, but that building needs to be pretty much completely gutted. Cinderblock walls may be OK, but after heat exposure, even the studs and roof are suspect.

Hint; don’t hire your so called experts for any building you want to inhabit. Trust me on this one.

  22. Fat-shaming Bento Guzman Says:

I am starting to remember more about the Pierello gas line incident . . . there were reports that several of the cheap-ass solar landscape lights were mysteriously extinguished by these Obamacare-hate ninjas sometime prior — maybe months prior — to the barbeque gas line being cut. No human being, much less a ‘right winger’, was ever investigated for this ‘act of vandalism’.
Yet, to people on the Left, a madman shooting literally dozens of people at a nightclub, and calling up a 9/11 operator in the process of his murders, and confessing his crime to her, and literally not speaking one sentence without tying his murder spree to Islam and ISIS, has nothing to do with Islam.

  23. Joe Doakes Says:

    https://www.rawstory.com/2016/10/nc-democratic-headquarters-attacked-on-same-night-nearby-gop-office-was-firebombed/

Graffiti left by people who hate capitalism; i.e., Leftists. Which is exactly the same thing as firebombing while accusing someone of being a Nazi which, in this election, has consistently been done by Leftists.

So it’s equal and therefore forget it.

  24. Dog Gone Says:

    Climate of hate?

I don’t think so. The NC Dems in solidarity with the opposite side of the aisle raised
$13,169 to support their opposition to reopen as soon as possible. Their goal was $10k, but in four hours they exceeded that goal before they stopped taking further donations.

Here was the message they used to do it.

” On October 16, a North Carolina headquarters of the Republican Party was firebombed , and an abhorrent threat was painted on its outside wall

As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible.

Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.

So, let’s all pitch in , no matter what your party affiliation, and get that office open again quickly.”

I don’t see you mentioning this; shame on you. THIS is what liberals do; we go high.

  25. Ian in Iowa Says:

It’s so easy to bait you, DG. You and the b rest of the leftists, especially in the media, seem to have gotten the talking points already: In the case of the firebombing, we’re urged not to rush to judgment (since unhinged lefties might be guilty), but any act of vandalism or violence against a Left-friendly target, and the media condemnations of right-wing boogeymen start before bodies are cold. Case in point: Bill Sparkman.

  26. Mitch Berg Says:

DG, do you ever read anything you write about?

    I don’t think so.

What you “think” is irrelevant. Someone threw a firebomb into a building. That was not a matter of positive reinforcement.

The NC Dems in solidarity with the opposite side of the aisle raised

And I credited them from not being utterly f****ng depraved as a group.

But the climate of hatred that people like you – yes, you – foment is bound to cause the less stable to break eventually.

I don’t see you mentioning this; shame on you.

Shut the hell up. I’m not their PR firm.

THIS is what liberals do; we go high.

No, DG. “We” do not. The NCDP did.

    And kudos to them.

  27. Mitch Berg Says:

    “We”, DG?

No. Not “we”. The North Carolina Democrat Party. Kudos to them.

You are not one of them, and nobody reading your blog (to say nothing of your comments here these past five years) would ever figure you for someone who’d aim high.

    Think about it, DG.

  28. Mitch Berg Says:

    I don’t see you mentioning this;

    A) I’m not their PR firm.

    B) I don’t see you crediting Republicans for anything, ever. You’re a hypocrite.

    shame on you

    “Shame” on me?

You think you have social, moral or personal authority to “shame” anyone?

    Get over yourself.

  29. Fat-shaming Bento Guzman Says:

Nazi’s hated capitalism and capitalists. Capitalism values money above race, you see.

  30. Fat-shaming Bento Guzman Says:

Here is an example of the Democrats ‘going high’:
WikiLeaks emails show Clinton campaign collected data to discredit Bill Clinton accuser
By Rosalind S. Helderman October 15
After Juanita Broaddrick, who has long accused former president Bill Clinton of raping her in 1978, repeated those allegations in a January tweet, aides to Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton quickly moved to gather information that could be used to undermine her account, hacked internal campaign emails released Saturday by the group WikiLeaks show.

Political parties attract all kinds of people, from power-hungry psychos to HOA busybodies, to idealists. This goes for the Dems, the GOP, and the Libertarians and just about any other political party you can mention.

  31. Mitch Berg Says:

    Here’s liberals “going high”.

There are good liberals; my parents, for starters.

But Prager is right: conservatives think liberals are wrong, and liberals think conservatives are evil.

  32. Deplorable Swiftee Says:

    “We go high”

OK, I’ll bite. How much did you send in dog? How high did YOU go?

Pffft. You pathetic bag of garbage…you did nothing but spread insanity and hate.

  33. bosshoss429 Says:

Sorry Dog, but you screwed the pooch, again!

The NC DemonRAT party, set up a GoFundMe page for those donations. This is classic left wing altruism; make others pay for it. If they really wanted to show “solidarity”, I’m sure that they could have pulled that much out of petty cash!

  34. Dog Gone Says:

What am I talking about? The democratic offices were targeted with threatening graffiti in North Carolina. It appears on early investigation to be the same people, and it is suspected they were interrupted before they could do the same kind of damage.

    Look it up.

And apparently you are also unaware that the Dems raised money – over $13k in 4 hours – to help the GOP in North Carolina re-open. IT IS CALLED NEWS.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/support-pours-firebombed-north-carolina-gop-group-n667711

Of equal interest should be the statement made by the North Carolina GOP that “No completed absentee ballots were burned”, which they retracted later when it was pointed out that it was illegal for them to possess any absentee ballots, much less completed ones. THAT is voter fraud.

  35. Mitch Berg Says:

What am I talking about? The democratic offices were targeted with threatening graffiti in North Carolina. It appears on early investigation to be the same people, and it is suspected they were interrupted before they could do the same kind of damage.

    Look it up.

Better idea: let’s look it up when the investigation is over.

My confidence that we can blame it on the depravity of too many liberals is rarely unrewarded.

  36. Ian in Iowa Says:

Of equal interest should be the statement made by the North Carolina GOP that ā€œNo completed absentee ballots were burnedā€, which they retracted later when it was pointed out that it was illegal for them to possess any absentee ballots, much less completed ones. THAT is voter fraud.

This is what the article says:

CORRECTION: A previous version of this article quoted a party official as saying completed absentee ballots might have been destroyed in the attack on the Orange County Republican Party office, which was incorrect. The North Carolina Republican Party and its county organizations do not collect completed absentee ballots.

What the party official (who is presumably a human being who can make mistakes and make a faulty assumption, especially in light of one of his employer’s offices being FIREBOMBED) said is that completed absentee ballots MIGHT have been destroyed. Someone in the organization likely assured him this could not be the case, and the reason why.

If you have PROOF that NBC has scrubbed an official admitting to a crime, then let’s see it! Shouldn’t be hard, NBC has a history on not covering their tracks very well when they distort facts– Zimmerman, exploding Ford gas tanks, etc.

The more likely scenario is that reading comprehension is a skill I would put in the “Needs Improvement” column.
