Embarassment Of Riches

By Mitch Berg

I gotta steal a march on this weekend’s NARN activities.  Ed will be off on assignment, but it’s still going to be a lot of fun.

First – Rep. Michele Bachmann will join me.  We’ll be talking about ACORN, and efforts to check their influence and look into their funding.

Also – James Lileks will join me for our quarterly white-water raft trip down the stream of consciousness.

That’s on the Northern Alliance Radio Network Volume 2, tomorrow from 1-3PM Central!

Hey! Maybe you can ask her how her investigation into un-American attitudes is going?

Then maybe you can ask her whether she still thinks the poor caused the financial meltdown, you know, blacks and others minorities, for which Ms.Bachman essentially asserted that a. Blacks are primarily poor, b. minorities make up the majority of the poor, and the c. the poor caused this financial crisis by accepting loans offered them at teaser rates (or whatever line of crap she seems to think).

Embarrasment perhaps, riches, not so much.

I know you are dutifully carrying water Mitch, but having been in Ms. Bachmann’s presence when the ‘cameras weren’t rolling’, I certainly can say my impression is that she’s a vapid twit, ill-informed (or totally uninformed) and she acts as a chattering mouthpiece for the most extreme of GOP views. She hurts your party every time she’s on an unfriendly media program. Clearly you’ll toss only softballs, but lordy…embarrassing is truly the right word for any other kind of environment she shows up in.

  2. LearnedFoot Says:

    Shut up. Just… shut up.

  3. penigma Says:

Maybe you can ask her about Constitutiona law Mitch, like which article or section of the Constitution gives the Congress the right to tax or regulate interstate commerce? It seems like she’s not quite up on that. She should start an investigation.

Foot, when you stand with asses, you start to smell, if you don’t like smelling, don’t stand with M. Bachmann.

Hey, I know!! Maybe YOU can help Ms. Bachmann with the law – I mean, as bad as you are at it, even YOU know that the Congress fully is empowered to tax and to control such expenditures under the Constitution.

  4. Yossarian Says:

vapid twit, ill-informed (or totally uninformed) and acts as a chattering mouthpiece

    See also: Peev.

  5. LearnedFoot Says:

I don’t stand with asses. I don;t stand with you.

Also, you have problems comprehending the term “shut up”.

  6. Yossarian Says:

For the Peevish one, “shut up” translates as “Please, share more of your endless bullshit.”

  7. K-Rod Says:

    “See also: Peev.”

True. He is a Useful Idiot and a tool for the Liberal Fascists.

  8. Terry Says:

I believe that many foreigners are un-American.

  9. Mitch Berg Says:

Actually P, you can call in and ask yourself. Unlike the rigidly-hierarchical nature of lefty media, where peasants are seen fit to be seen and not heard, on talk radio anyone can call in and ask a question. Feel perfectly free!

Then maybe you can ask her whether she still thinks the poor caused the financial meltdown, you know, blacks and others minorities

Yet another statement that was blown out of context in as defamatory a way as possible. The Community Reinvestment Act along with a raft of other “reforms” did create the “sub-prime” market, which led to the derivatives based on the market, whose collapse led to the crisis we have today. Bachmann was right; the “racist” baggage was larded on top by a lot of lefty commentators from whom I’d like to expect better, but I think we all know better than that.

, for which Ms.Bachman essentially asserted that a. Blacks are primarily poor,

No, she did not. Please supply a cite for this bit of defamation.

    b. minorities make up the majority of the poor,

    Untrue. Please substantiate.

and the c. the poor caused this financial crisis by accepting loans offered them at teaser rates (or whatever line of crap she seems to think).

Please show us a Bachmann statement saying anything of the sort. A quote, mind you, not “analysis” by the leftymedia.

Get looking; it’s gonna take you a while.

I know you are dutifully carrying water Mitch

And I know that you are nothing but a mindless robot who wouldn’t consider saying anything that you werent’ ordered to by some higher authority, inasmuch as all liberals, big and small, are more or less like Borg. No, not even Borg; termites. Termites have their roles in the colony; they don’t question their roles, but rather do what they were programmed to do. You are a Chanter Termite; you chant “bachmann is dum, bachmann is dum” without really knowing why.

Hey, if you can play the “you are dutifully…” card, so can I. Isn’t it swell for discussion?

, but having been in Ms. Bachmann’s presence when the ‘cameras weren’t rolling’, I certainly can say my impression is that she’s a vapid twit, ill-informed (or totally uninformed) and she acts as a chattering mouthpiece for the most extreme of GOP views.

Leaving aside that I doubt you’ve spent any significant time with her at all beyond a town hall or a meet ‘n greet somewhwere, I guarantee you that I’ve spent a lot more time around her with cameras and mikes on and off; she’s sharp, well-informed, and – I love this about her – utterly unafraid of her critics. I’ve written about her before; she operates with her heart on her sleeve, without a lot of calculation; she’s the anti-Norm Coleman (and I do support them both). And you are wrong.

I saw her speak at a town hall meeting. She did something I’ve never seen a politician do; grabbed a whiteboard, and start breaking out numbers for the audience. Vapid? No, Peev, she is pretty much the opposite.

She hurts your party every time she’s on an unfriendly media program.

    I disagree.

Clearly you’ll toss only softballs, but lordy…embarrassing is truly the right word for any other kind of environment she shows up in.

Oh, let’s get real; the mainstream media largely acts as dutiful hit-people for the Dems. They will do whatever they can to portray Bachmann badly. And she does speak and act at times without regard to all the “angles”, which is a liability AND a strength.

But make no mistake about it; she and John Kline are the two very best voices Minnesota has in Congress right now. Walz, McCollum and Ellison? In a just world, we’d be embarassed over each of those hamsters.

  10. Terry Says:

Say didn’t Ellison have his haj payed for by the Muslim American Society? Isn’t the MAS a branch of the terrorist-sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood?
Ellison sounds like he is un-American.

  11. BradC Says:

    Clearly you’ll toss only softballs..

Even if that statement were true (which it isn’t), that’s pretty much irrelevant. I know from listening to the NARN for more than four years that liberal callers are always on the air first. Therefore, you all will have your opportunity tomorrow to confront Rep. Bachmann live on the air (if you have the stones that is).

So all these questions you posed in your earlier comment? Call in and ask yourself. That is, if you have the guts. So, what do ya say Peev? Are you man enough to call in.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Oh. Oh, I slay me!

  12. Kermit Says:

Hey Peev. 1:00 tomorrow (that would be Saturday, May 16, just so you can’t pretend to not get the timeing right) call. The number is public. Hell, Mitch announces it like 20 times an hour. He may even post right here for your convenience. I know you are coming back to this thread to bask in the glow of the turds you’ve thrown.

So here it is, Big Man. CALL IN. I dare you. Put it on the line, Big Man. Talk to the Eeeevil Bachmann. Dazzle her with your sharp insights. Call her on her bullshit. Man up, Nancy boy. Put your money where your mouth is.

If you do not, you are a fucking coward. A spastic little leftie droog without any moral standing to post one more word here.

I’ll be listening. I do every Saturday. Come on Big Man. Impress us. Or follow Learned Foot’s excellent advice and shut up. For good.

Odds on crickets from Peevish? Pretty good.

  13. Terry Says:

Peev is terrified of the thought that Bachman might turn out to be more of a man than he is.

  14. Night Writer Says:

Truly a put up or shut up situation for Peev. Call in and ask the questions (no doubt Mitch will even move him to the head of the line)…or shut up in this Comment section.

This isn’t a shunning or a banning…merely an opportunity to step out of this fine little sub-environment into the real-time world and talk to a real person instead of an effigy.

You can do it, Peev. Your commentary here of late has been more interactive and on-point; even a contribution to the discussion. If you don’t respond to the Congresswoman when you have this fine opportunity, though, I don’t know how you can show yourself around here again.

  15. Mr. D Says:

C’mon, Peev. Go get ‘er. Speak truth to power! Give MB your best “J’accuse!” Drop your rhetorical house on the Wicked Witch of the East (well, Stillwater). Grab those ruby slippers of righteousness!

  16. Mitch Berg Says:

    By the way, Pen…

This bit…: And I know that you are nothing but a mindless robot , was intended totally tongue-in-cheek.

  17. Terry Says:

Over on peevblog, ‘penigma’ has written a paean on the glories of American openness and transparency.
Peev & his commenters all use aliases.

  18. Mr. Shirt Says:

If he does call, we’ll know which caller is Peeve…

He’ll be the one who spasticly shouts “neo-con” at inappropriate times, like he has Tourettes syndrome.

  19. Kermit Says:

He won’t call. He knows, deep down, what he really is.

  20. Mr. Shirt Says:

The smartest most benevolent creature of beauty to ever walk this planet?

  21. Kermit Says:

No, craven comes more to mind.

  22. Mr. Shirt Says:

It was sarcasm, I thought you guys would know me by now! 😉

  23. Kermit Says:

I’m sorry. I meant Claven. As in Cliff Claven.
    My bad.

  24. BradC Says:

As is usually the case, Peev scurries away like a cockroach when the light shines on his utter lunacy.

  25. Night Writer Says:

I hope he’s standing in his bathroom, working on his radio voice.

  26. Paul Says:

I raced home as soon as I could after listening to Mitch’s interview of MB on my car radio to write this.

    Peev, you spineless pussy.

You had an free shot at Bachmann, and you passed it up. If you dare show your face around here again, I for one will constantly remind you of this.

Of course, you could complain that you were too busy looking for that “poor caused this financial crisis by accepting loans offered them at teaser rate” Bachmann statement, but you could have taken a break from your “research” to call in.

  28. Dog Gone Says:

I would have happily listened, AND called in, but unfortunately I spent my entire Saturday afternoon in the ER being treated for an injury. Foot up on an ottoman, using my knee for an impromptu desk, VERY large dog decides to take a short cut across me to get to the ‘shotgun’ spot on the couch next to me… and it hurts like hell when your knee bends the opposite direction from the one God intended. I HATE crutches…. (So for the forseeable, if I seem less than sweet tempered… I tend to avoid taking pain meds, if at all possible… so apologies in advance.)

I have heard her supporters indicate that Ms. Bachmann is intelligent and well informed in certain specific areas of expertise. Even many republicans however find her comments frequently to be…. at best embarrassing. I certainly don’t see any reason to live in fear that the dollar will cease to be the currency of the US any time soon.

I’d be delighted to see her display that intelligent and informed expertise for a change. Can’t wait to download the podcast.

  29. K-Rod Says:

He had his chance. He has no guts. Bachmann would have taken him to task.
This should keep peev hiding over at his Penisblog.

“I’d be delighted to see her display that intelligent and informed expertise for a change.”

“I can’t believe Nixon won. I don’t know anybody who voted for him.”

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Spoken like a true left-wing liberal, Dog Gone.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
