Why keep political divisions, just for the sake of tradition?
Here’s a video about the proposed “State of Jefferson” – the move by rural Northern California to secede from the rest of the state:
This, and the secession movement in Colorado – and the fallout either or both could bring – could be the best thing to happen to this nation in decades.
I was born in Fort Worth (courtesy of the USAF), so I think my citizenship is secured if Texas S-words.
If Texas were to S-word, could they secure their own borders?
Yeah I think NBC did a show about this called “Revolution.” Things did not turn out so well after the United States broke up into multiple countries.
NBC does a lot of things that do not turn out well for patriots.
People calling for secession aren’t patriots, they’re traitors.
If Texas were to S-word, could they secure their own borders?
Well, I’m sure they’d be more motivated and effective than the Federal Govt. in securing the southern borders. It would be interesting to see how they do in controlling the northerners passing through Oklahoma and Arkansas trying to immigrate. I don’t think they’d be too concerned about accusations of “profiling” – so don’t wear a Bears jersey.
Federally it would never happen, you really think they’d just let 4 new Republican senators in like that?
Federally/judicially it will never happen either. Scalia says so: http://www.newyorkpersonalinjuryattorneyblog.com/2010/02/scalia-there-is-no-right-to-secede.html
If such a time came that a majority of Texans elect a majority of legislators who are willing to attempt secession, it would truly be interesting to see how that would happen and if there would be a civil war over it…..TX vs the Union.
Splitting borders within a state is not succession, and it’s been done already, successfully, and for the same reasons N. Cali wants to do it.
Western Virginia found itself no longer sharing anything in common with Virginia and *poof*.
