Question For All You Liberals Out There

By Mitch Berg

So now that Obama is President, is dissent still the highest form of patriotism?

Is “Questioning Authoritystill a virtue?

Is “speaking truth to power” still a something to uphold and revere?

Just checking.

  1. Jeff Rosenberg Says:

    Yes.

  2. Terry Says:

Then why does Al Gore tell AGW skeptics to shut up and sit down?

  3. Mr. Shirt Says:

SILENCE! You anti-flag bigoted climate denier!

  4. flash Says:

I’m not a liberal, but yes!

“”Then why does Al Gore tell AGW skeptics to shut up and sit down? “”

Is that a direct quote, or just some talking point shoved down your throat. Gore is still wrong, though.

We are the current caretakers of this planet, and we should make decisions that help, not hurt our environment. I don’t needs some faux climate change theory to recognize that. Fortunately, there are many on the Right that believe the same thing

  5. angryclown Says:

And you far-out wingnut types will continue calling people who disagree with the president “traitors?”

Whatever gets you through the next eight years, I guess. But let’s not pretend there’s anything on the other side that matches up with the wingnut attack machine.

  6. Dog Gone Says:

I’m independent, not liberal, and yes, dissent is STILL patriotic. What defines liberal, conservative or independent is not whether one dissents, but the reasons one does so.

I agree with flash about conservatives believing that we need to take care of the planet – it’s the only one we have.

  7. Terry Says:

If it was a direct quote I would have put quotes around it. Gore has said the debate is over.

  8. Terry Says:

Eight years, AC? I thought it was Bush that was supposed to cancel elections.

  9. angryclown Says:

The next four years is a cycle of backbiting between normal Republicans and you kooks on the fringe right, Terry. You’ll insist on Sarah Palin or Darth Maul as the candidate. Otherwise you’ll spoil the party for any more reasonable centrist type. It will be enjoyable to watch.

  10. Terry Says:

53%-46% ? Against Mr. moderate and Caribou Barbie?
You’ve been watching too much of your own propaganda, AC. Your guy seems to be more popular with media types than he is with the voters.

  11. angryclown Says:

Seven points on an open seat. For a black guy. You guys can’t win for losing and your advice will be to play things even wingnuttier next time around. I’m liking Obama’s reelection chances very, very much, Terry.

  12. Terry Says:

Your kind of reliving the whole reason you voted for him AC. If you voted for Obama in 2008 despite the fact that he hadn’t accomplished anything, why would that stop you in 2012?
Or do you think socialism is going to work this time?

  13. angryclown Says:

I’ll forgive you for that, Terry. It’s just the defeat talking.

  14. Mr. D Says:

Clown will come out well under Obama, Terry. There are greasepaint subsidies in the “stimulus” bill and he’ll probably get a new sledgehammer for mashing watermelons out of some neo-WPA deal later on, to say nothing of the mania on the Left for tiny little cars. It’s every clown’s dream!

  15. Night Writer Says:

Shouldn’t angryclown be changing his name given the new world order and the fact that our celebrities are now free to change the world into a better place after being locked in dank dungeons the last 8 years? What will his new name be, deliriousclown? hopeandchangeclown? giddyclown? Perhaps just sillyclown.

I eagerly await news of the new name with as much anticipation as I have for finding out what symbol Garry Trudeau will use to illustrate Obama.

  16. angryclown Says:

Clearly Night Rider doesn’t know the Angryclown credo: “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor change of administration stays this brave clown from the completion of his angry rounds.”

  17. angryclown Says:

Mitch wondered: “Is “speaking truth to power” still a something to uphold and revere?”

Speaking stupid to power, however, remains on the outs.

  18. Mr. D Says:

What will his new name be, deliriousclown? hopeandchangeclown? giddyclown? Perhaps just sillyclown.

I’m thinking it’s going to be either
    “happyharlequin,”
    “placidpagliacci,”
    “jazzedjester,” or perhaps
    “quiescent quipster.”

    Mitch should do a contest. . . .

  19. Badda Says:

    Smirking Scaramouche?

    Scowling Scaramouche!

  20. nerdbert Says:

Speaking stupid to power, however, remains on the outs.

Breaking news: Clownie on the outs. No audio at 11.

  21. Mr. Shirt Says:

Speaking stupid to power, however, remains on the outs.

And yet you continue to do so.

  22. Mr. Shirt Says:

“We are the current caretakers of this planet, and we should make decisions that help, not hurt our environment. I don’t needs some faux climate change theory to recognize that.”

“I agree with flash about conservatives believing that we need to take care of the planet – it’s the only one we have. “

That’s great! So do you really think going down the road of global collectivism will do it? Are you willing to knee-cap the economy based of an unproven “consensus” of government funded sycophants who don’t want the money trough to dry up? Are you two really that foolish?

  23. Paul Says:

“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor change of administration stays this brave clown from the completion of his angry rounds.”

Which is why your real name is Pennywise.

  24. Night Writer Says:

“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor change of administration stays this brave clown from the completion of his angry rounds.”

    Blow, blow, thou angryclown,
    Thou art not so unkind
    As man’s ingratitude;
Thy tooth is not so keen
    Because thou art not seen,
    Although thy breath be rude.
