Who Needs Government Funding For Educational Television…
By Mitch Berg
…when we’ve got Red Squirrel from the eponymous Red Squirrel Report:
I grew up in the 1970’s, so I got some of my learnin’ every Saturday morning from ABC’s Schoolhouse Rock…Last Friday, the government told us that the unemployment rate fell to 8.3%, even though they do not count millions of people who are too frustrated to even look for a job anymore. I think this country needs the folks at Schoolhouse Rock to explain the unemployment rate to the American people. Something catchy, similar to Conjunction Junction.
How about……..Frustration Nation? C’mon kids, sing along:
He’s got lyrics and everything.

Well, apparently they are feeling the pinch! About a week ago, there were several well worn grandmotherly women going from door to door in my neighborhood seeking donations for TPT! My response; Sorry ma’m! I’m stockpiling my cash because I don’t know how badly Obamacare is going to bite me! She didn’t get it!

The classic response “Sorry, I already gave at the office” couldn’t be more appropriate in your instance, BH. In the last year I’ve resumed listening to MPR (99.5 for the music, not 91.1 for the propaganda/news) when the two talkers in town don’t hold my interest (or if I’m out of their broadcast coverage areas…which is far more frequent since KTLK became KTCN) . If ever there comes a time that public funding of NPR is cut off, then I would seriously consider becoming a paying member, which would give them FAR MORE of my money than they are currently receiving. However, as long as they are getting even a FRACTION of a cent of my money against my wishes, they will get nothing else from me.
