Tantrum

“Occupy Minnesota” “protesters” disrupt a Henco Commission meeting by…

…well, basically, kicking their feet and sputtering like spoiled four-year-olds.

The footage above is by Bill Sorum at “The Uptake”, the lefty astroturf vidblog.  Sorum writes hilariously:

Since the occupation began on October 7, there have been a number of attempts to remove the protestors from The People’s Plaza ( also known as the Hennepin County Government Plaza).

No, Bill.  It’s known as Hennepin County Government Plaza.  A bunch of spoiled dilettantes are calling it People’s Plaza, but nobody that anyone in Henco voted for made that decision, so…no. It’s not People’s Plaza.

But since y’all are so concerned about First Amendment rights on the plaza, maybe Minnesota Concealed Carry Reform Now should have its next open carry picnic there.  Maybe this Sunday.  Because we’re all about rights, too.

  1. A bunch of spoiled dilettantes are calling it People’s Plaza, but nobody that anyone in Henco voted for made that decision, so…no. It’s not People’s Plaza.

These people are giving dilettantes a bad name.

  2. I guess that these miscreants believe that they are the only ones that have the right to use the Plaza. I reminded a couple of them that they were interfering with my rights to walk across it to the building without having to run an obstacle course. The attempted to shout me down, but, I can shout back pretty loud. I still say that it is past time to have MFD test their hoses on the Plaza and wash it clean at the same time.

  3. They’re so cute until they reach that age when they start rounding people up and shooting them.

  4. Careful Mitch. The People’s Party does not take kindly to having the People’s Plaza dissed. The People’s Army will be dispatched to take you to the People’s Court, which will demand your “reeducation.”

I love how a movement that espouses democracy above all things uses almost exclusively the phrases of the most bloody and repressive movement of the 20th century and still expects to be taken seriously. Funny, that.

  5. I was by there twice yesterday afternoon. I would say that the first time (mid afternoon) there were about 5 people in the gathering. Maybe about 10 the second time.

Starving for attention? Yes. Now what they have done is string rope between light poles, and hang signs up. Fairly high. They seem to be concerned that they aren’t getting enough attention by holding the signs or proping them against the benches.

Even though you don’t have the lake breeze like you do at Harriet it’s not a bad idea. I’d love to be there; who’ll bring the weenies and charcoal?

  7. say what you want about the folks in NY @ Zucotti, but at least they had a few decent lookers… yeeesh.

  8. who’ll bring the charcoal and wienies?

Popcorn will be provided by Rybak’s and the City Council’s collective heads exploding.

    (From dissonance, not gunfire.)

  9. Can we also have Cigar Smoke in during the Carry Meeting.
Since this is the People’s Plaza, I assume there is no problem with folks smoking out there too.

  10. The socialists aren’t going to allow you any where to smoke:

“……Hennepin County’s ban on smoking and tobacco use anywhere on county-owned property in downtown Minneapolis. The ban includes the outdoor plaza, greenspace, parking ramps and lots and even vehicles parked in those areas. It will spread to libraries, suburban county sites and county-leased properties later this year.”

  11. The plaza is well within the boundaries of the People’s Republic of Minneapolis so, I think the protesters have a point.
