Maybe, rather than corporate mouthpiece Strom, you could get Con Nikolas Sarkozy, and his new wife Carla Bruni, whom he married yesterday, after a long and dutiful engagement. He and Bruni started dating a couple of weeks after his divorce to his wife became final in October OF 2007, and they married yesterday. I’m sure they were seeing each other prior to his divorce being final, but still, it sure is nice to see Con (Freach variety) family values on display. I wonder why some of us sometimes think you licans favor cult politics, I mean, Schwartzenegger, and now this couple, who sound like they walked straight out of Hollywood’s circus of marraige and divorce, that sure wouldn’t give anyone pause.

Gotta love the French! Personally, I don’t much care, if he runs France pretty well, his private life is his private life, but for you Cons it’s only his private life if he’s one of YOU, otherwise anything is fair game, and will be exploited. What was it that Gas-bag Limbaugh said about Chelsea Clinton?

I’m sure that if Sarkozy were interested, and put together a convincing enough approach, that 1280 would consider it. Obviously they’ll put damn near anyone on the air.

Right. Conservatives don’t care about their conservatives’ personal lives. Which is how Giuliani held his 20 point leads from a year ago; because conservatives are HYPOCRITE HYPOCRITE HYPOCRITEs about personal lives.

Actually, I’m really not sure what you’re getting at, here. For that matter, I’m not sure YOU’re sure what you’re getting at. Plenty of conservatives didn’t care about Clinton’s personal life; merely that he lied under oath and abused the power of his office. And that there was credible evidence that he was serial sexual harasser. But hey, personal lives don’t matter, right?

But at least it’s not like he smoked pot in college, or wrote a paper in third grade saying he wanted to be Le President. Because liberals keep their hands off your personal life, dagnabbit!

  3. Kermit Says:

It was Mr. Clinton on TV, wagging his finger in my face like a mullah and lieing through his teeth. Bob Packwood got ran out of town on a rail for far less, but the hypocrites in the media give this creep a pass.
The Democrat Party: They have standards. Two sets of them.

  4. Tim in StP Says:

The media gave Clinton a pass? Pretty short memory there Kermit.

  5. Paul Says:

The media gave Clinton a pass?

Care to give specific examples of the MSM ripping Clinton’s ass to shreds?

Like the NYT, WaPo, LAT, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Newsweek, Time…not the Podunk Times-Dispatch Register.

    Specific examples, Tim.

  6. Kermit Says:

    Pretty short memory there Kermit.
That’s why I remember Packwood? A few joke by Jay Leno is not exactly a Democrat witch hunt.
    Pretty selective perception there, Tim.

  7. Tim in StP Says:

No specific examples but I clearly remember a round-the-clock, 7-days-a-week media free-for-all right around 1997-1999. Something about an impeachment, too. I wouldn’t call that a “pass.”

  8. Kermit Says:

5000 references to “It’s just about sex” and “It’s his private life”, zero references to perjury. It’s more about what’s not said, Tim.

  9. Kermit Says:

And thanks for the Partridge Family earworm. Mitch. It came in handy cleaning up after the dog in my backyard.

  10. Chuck Says:

How many stories did MSM run on Clintons rape…..I mean “alledged” rape of Juanita Broadrick? Pretty credible allegation. Did any reserach it? Didn’t…was NBC?….decide to note run the story when she came out very credible and they found no holes in her story. It took the WSJ to break the story and NBC finally ended up running it.

As far as I know, there was only one question to Clinton by MSM on it. He looked down and quitely said “my lawyers have commented on it”.

  11. Mitch Says:

As re the “conservative bias”, or even “lack of liberal bias”, I have three words for you.

    Fake But Accurate.

  12. Terry Says:

    Hey Tim-
When was Clinton cited for contempt? What did he do to deserve the contempt citation?
On the other hand, we all know that Monica’s dress was blue.
    This counts as a ‘pass’.

  13. Chuck Says:

You want to see media bias? Go to Startribune.com right now and see the erections they are getting over Obama. I went to the Bush rally there in 2004 and don’t recall an article like this.

  14. Mr. D Says:

I’d rather not look at anyone’s erection. But I take your point, Chuck.

And to the earlier point, the Broaddrick story is a perfect example. The WSJ editorial page, specifically the invaluable Dorothy Rabinowitz, smoked out the Broaddrick story, which NBC had done but shelved. It was available and could have been run before the impeachment. But it wasn’t. And when it did run, NBC did everything in its power to bury its impact – no publicity for the report, hidden in the middle of the hour, never to be seen again. Contrast how the Broaddrick accusations were reported compared to the way Packwood was reported, or even the amount of reporting on the execrable Larry Craig. You’ll have your answer then.

  15. Paul Says:

No specific examples but I clearly remember a round-the-clock, 7-days-a-week media free-for-all right around 1997-1999.

If you “clearly remember” then specific examples are not outside your reach.

    Unless there aren’t any.

    Something about an impeachment, too.

He finished out his term, right?

    I wouldn’t call that a “pass.”

You try commiting perjury and witness tampering and see how fast your ass gets thrown behind bars.

  16. Terry Says:

For years — years! — the influential left wing of the D party has been screaming for Bush to be impeached. It ain’t happened. Despite a war, despite no WMD’s, despite thousands of American soldiers dead overseas, congress hasn’t found an an impeachable offense against Bush. CF Clinton, where despite his lawyer’s training he got caught perjuring himself under oath.
The truth is the Clintons aren’t very god politicians. They need a forgiving media to look good.

  17. Tim in StP Says:

Paul, I clearly remember a plethora of media coverage on 9/11/01 but I wouldn’t be able to give you specific examples.

Bill got caught red-handed receiving blowjobs in the Oval Office from an intern and became the most ridiculed president of the 20th century. That’s not a pass in any sense of the term.

  18. Mitch Says:

    Tim,

Between “Bill got caught” and “most ridiculed Prez” came a long, long story…

…that, until Matt Drudge outflanked Newsweek, almost managed to completely evade coverage.

I’m not going to get into the “liberal media bias” argument – it exists and is pervasive, but not for the reasons a lot of people think – but here’s an interesting question; since Newsweek was ready to gundeck its story on the subject, until Drudge blew it open (as it were), how do you (pl, not just Tim) think the story arc would have gone had Drudge not gotten the word out?

  19. Seflores Says:

Tim’s right in a sense, King Bill did get caught and the press dutifully reported it after Drudge got the ball rolling. The days of a JFK or LBJ or DDE getting away with treating the female staff as semen disposal units and the press looking the other way are over if only for the fact that there is always some reporter out there looking to make a name for himself that will force the story out.
What is more shocking is the complete lack of response or sanction from ordinary Democrats. After the Katherine Willey / Juanita Broderick allegations were made, I remember Tim Russert on Meet the Press making remarks to the effect that if your boss were accused of these things, he’d be shunned as an old time chauvinist pig. Instead, Democrats from the fringe to the left of center just sort of shrugged and looked the other way. Who was the Time magazine reporter that offered the King oral if he would just keep abortion legal?
Hillary has the Hsu scandal and the now developing scandal of her largest donor and the largest donor to King Bill’s foundation jetting about picking up uranium contracts with the King greasing the wheels for him. If this was a Republican the party leadership would point them to the exit and it would be the end of their political career ala DeLay or “Duke” Cunningham.
With the Democrats when its corruption or boorish behavior like “Cold Cash” Jefferson or Detroit’s mayor its a shrug and a “well they all do it”. There is no penalty within the party for treating women like sh*t or stealing or just plain being a pig. If you have a “D” behind your name, its a license to steal so long as you say the right things about the partys sacramental issues of abortion, taxes and global warming.
    Mind numbed robots, indeed.

  20. Terry Says:

Bill got caught red-handed receiving blowjobs in the Oval Office from an intern and became the most ridiculed president of the 20th century. That’s not a pass in any sense of the term.
It is if he was guilty of obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and perjury.

  21. Kermit Says:

Terry, those are Democrat traditions. Tammany Hall and all that.
