When I Was A Kid…

By Mitch Berg

this news would have kept me jazzed for a whole week.

Devin Hester ran into the record book again. Ricky Manning Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown, and the Bears claimed their second straight NFC North title with a 23-13 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on a frigid Sunday afternoon.

And by golly, it still does!

Now that they’ve clinched their second straight division title, the Chicago Bears can focus on bigger goals: a No. 1 seed and, maybe, the conference championship.

And then a Super Bowl.  Don’t forget the Super Bowl.

You know God loves you when your quarterback goes 6 of 19 with 34 yards passing and three interceptions and you still win.

Either that, or you were playing the Vikings.

  2. Chad The Elder Says:

The Vikings may have lost but they exposed the Bear’s soft underbelly–which will be their Achille’s heel come playoff time–by running the ball down their throats. That and the Rex Grossman’s general ineffectiveness will keep the Bears out of the Super Bowl.

    Damn Bears. Go Cowboys, Eh?

  4. BradC Says:

Echo what the Elder said. If Rex Grossman is the QB once the Bears reach the playoffs then they have NO SHOT to even get to the Super Bowl, much less win it.

  5. JamesPh. Says:

Well, running the ball down the Bears’ throats (and Da Bears rank fifth in rushing defense) should net more than 13 points and only one TD.

  6. The Lady Logician Says:

The Elder has a very valid point. He was so bad yesterday (mechanics wise) that even the Junior Logician could see it! I think even Grossman finally “got it” yesterday. Hopefully this means he will work on getting his mechanics right between now and when the playoffs start.

Whadda ya think Mitch? Where shall we Bears fans go to watch the playoffs together? Keegans????? I’ll be there!
