I Blame Yoko
By Mitch Berg
“Yellow Wiggle” Greg Page is bailing:
The hugely popular children’s group The Wiggles is expected this week to announce the departure of its lead singer…
Huh?
He wants to make a solo album? Acting career? Clashed with the drummer over a post-Kid-Rock Pamela Lee?
… because of a serious illness, media reports said Wednesday.
Doh.
The Wiggles were Australia’s top-earning entertainers last year, ahead of No. 2 AC/DC and No. 3 Nicole Kidman.
But their best albums are still from before they went major-label.

Greg is dropping the Wiggles like a hot potato hot potato.
Meh. Anthony is still my favorite.
(Yes I have 2 kids who own every DVD ever made by them)

“Purple Wiggle” Jeff Fatt used to be part of (or somehow involved with, not sure) Oingo Boingo.

Jeff and Anthony were both in an ’80’s band called The Cockroaches. I couldn’t name one song.

Is it just me or do they look like they’re wearing Star Trek TOS uniforms while performing?
If so, maybe Shatner may take Greg’s place and revise his singing career . . .

I’m no fan but as the dad of a 4-year-old I can assure you that you can do a lot worse than The Wiggles (see: Doodlebops, Raffi, Barney). At least we still have The Backyardigans.

My kids are older, so I’ve only heard the Wiggles in passing. I stayed at home with my daughter (worked nights) during the heyday of Barney, and learned to appreciate it (it was two half-hours a day where I could relax a little!); I’m forever in that lizard’s debt.
But the Muzak in hell is performed by the Doodlebops.
