Under Siege

I read this, and wondered for a brief moment if the story didn’t have some garbled copy – if it wasn’t talking about Afghanistan, or southern Mexico, or the Congo or something.

No such luck (I’m adding emphasis):

An area in south-central Arizona that was once a haven for family hiking and off-roading, now has signs warning of drug smugglers and human traffickers.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu says that his department no longer has control over parts of his county.

At a recent press conference, Sheriff Babeu said, “We are outgunned, we are out manned and we don’t have the resources here locally to fight this.”

It is, in effect, an insurgency on American soil, on behalf of a foreign power (albeit not a soverign government – at least, not directly):

Last month, Pinal County Deputy Sheriff Louie Puroll was ambushed and shot as he tracked six drug smugglers. Sheriff Babeu said the ambush mirrored military tactics.

But for God’s sake, don’t ask peoples’ immigration status!

In regards to Obama’s promise of 1,200 National Guardsmen spread out from San Diego to the mouth of the Rio Grande, Babeu added, “It will fall short. What is truly needed in 3,000 soldiers for Arizona alone.”

OK, open borders people;  this is the wages of your lunacy.  This is the big reward for casting away our national sovereignty; losing control of our nation, not just fiscally and politically and economically, but in terms of actually controlling this country so that it is safe for law-abiding Americans.

Question for all of you who call Michele Bachmann and the Tea Partiers “seditious” for advocating limiting the power of government – are the Open Borders, anti-sovereignty people not even more, more directly seditious, since their policies lead directly to the loss of government control over the nation is is charged in our Constitution with defending?

  1. Of course not. Because MicheleSarahGlennJoeTom BachmannPalinBeckArpaioTancredo is TEH CRAAAAAAAAAZEEEEEEE NAZIIIIIII RACIST!

The Messiah will make it all better. Promise. Cross your heart (or we’ll cross it for you whether you know/like/want it or not).

  2. Protect the borders, fight and win wars — no.
Give people loans to go to school, build cars, tell you what kind of light bulbs to buy — yes.
If we really have the government we want we are in big trouble.

  3. Both the Bush and Obama administrations are at fault. When a government fails at their constitutional duty and cedes their authority, vigilante squads will eventually appear to maintain order. The imagined violations of human rights because of an Arizona anti-trespass law will be a conscientiousness-raising session compared to the ad-hoc trials, whippings, expulsions and executions by vigilance committees.

  4. Anti-UN/World Court, but certainly pro-open border with Mexico (which is not even close to the Congo or Somalia).

And punishing every damn José Sixpack immigrant because of the coyotes is just counter-productive- like banning pizza parlors in order to get to the (Italian) Mafia.

Focus like a laser beam, people. Think: Al Qaeda, Taliban, nuclear North Korea & Iran, PRC military buildup/rampant computer hacking, runaway deficits/spending, mountains of bureaucratic red-tape, and evermore obnoxious Canooks.

And hey, isn’t the CANADIAN border just lovely?

  5. Buddha, did you know that Mexico came within a hair of electing a slavering socialist and Chavez alcolyte for President in ’06?

    Canadians? WTF?

Radical Socialists vs. beer swilling dim-wits….no contest

    1. no one has cast away our national sovereignty

    2. we have never had heavily policed borders

    3. there have been greater periods of danger to law abiding Americans – like oh, say prohibition. You know, the days of bootlegging and Valentine’s Day massacres, the shootout that got Bonnie and Clyde?

Why isn’t the governor sending in the National Guard and the state police if this sheriff can’t maintain law and order in his county?????????

Aren’t you always whinging on and on and on about the over-reach of the federal government?

You do know, don’t you, that Pinal County is NOT a border county, it is in the center of the state — right in the area of Prescott where the school mural scandal recently took place?

You do also know, don’t you, that according to fact check organizations, like politifact.com, that approximately half of all the illegal immigrants in this country entered legally, but overstayed their permission?

The Strib has an interesting article on gun running to Mexico from MN btw….

  7. Dog Gone parroted:

    “politifact.com”

Yes, yes. The people with no agenda from whom you get all your “facts”. I hope they pay you for advertising. 😉

Have you even bothered to look at the map, BigDogPile? And why should you if you have access to Peeve’s neighbours! Too bad you can’t delete posts on this blog. Your ignorance, laziness, and blind obedience to talking points is now preserved for all to see. And as such, cements your opinions as mere white noise shed of any credibility.

  9. Buddha, did you know that Mexico came within a hair of electing a slavering socialist and Chavez alcolyte for President in ‘06?

Well, they didn’t, did they. (Meanwhile in ’08 we elected Barack Obama. What does that make us?)

    Canadians? WTF?

    My thoughts exactly.

Radical Socialists vs. beer swilling dim-wits….no contest

As in Greek collectivists versus Wisconsinites? As for me, I’m with the Cheeseheads.
