“We made losing one’s transfer paperwork an imprisonable crime, and made it legal for stalkers in areas with DFL-friendly cops or prosecutors to SWAT their victims with impunity, while doing nothing about the fact that people who commit armed robbery with illegal “assault weapons” are getting probation. In short, we signaled our “progressive” virtue. Nothing more”.
Translating DFL to human. It’s a tough job, but someone’s gotta do it.
Not a bad translation, not bad at all. You forgot to mention about the creation of new crimes (as if the crimes of carjacking and catalytic converter theft weren’t already covered by existing laws) – that won’t result in any significant jail time either. Especially if the perpetrator’s race is, um, inconvenient.
At no point do Moller and Latz mention locking criminals up.
Requiring cops and first responders to carry narcan does nothing to address crime.
Funding police recruitment doesn’t help when the DFL state AG brags about putting cops in jail.
She forgot that ground breaking snitch line where you can report someone for hate speech. Maybe that one is included in ‘prevention and rehabilitation’. Pretty soon there will be an oversight body that will be charged with monitoring these calls and force you to a rehabilitation camp similar to what is happening to Jordan Peterson. It is critical for them to divert police resources from actual crime to hate speech.
I prefer to characterize such efforts as idiot signaling where the person is attempting to show that they are a really, really useful idiot. Whether they are useful is certainly debatable. The object of the term certainly applies.
