Open Letter To Bobby Kahn

Re: Your Poor, Put-Upon Friends

Mr. Kahn,

You admit to being friends of the people who, last weekend, decided of their own idiot free will to throw water balloons and super soakers have a pedal pub in downtown Minneapolis.

And then do it again.

Because they just don’t like pedal pubs.

And now they’re trying to set themselves up as Rodney King because they were stupid enough to squirt a pedal pub full of off-duty cops, who proceeded to take them down.

You said they – your friends – are “loveable goofballs”.

No. They’re self-absorbed narcissists.

And if it hadn’t been their idiot luck to spray off-duty cops, but just a bunch of ironworkers or bouncers or big guys, they wouldn’t be able to wrap the just consequences of their stupidity in this year’s white-liberal-guilt-fest.

And…they were angry at pedal pubs? Talk about white privilege.

That is all.

  1. That idiot appeared on my Google news feed last night. I could feel my blood pressure rising as a read it, but all was well when I got to the comments and even the denizens of CityPages savaged the brain dead Mr. Kahn.

Personally, I have no problem with what happened to those idiots who assaulted folks and think they got off easy. They were trying to intimidate and shut down a business by assaulting folks and they ran into a bunch of folks who didn’t appreciate being assaulted. They should be glad they were just off-duty cops and not some of the union guys I used to hang with who would have made their present injuries pale in comparison.

  2. nerdbert,
I smile to think what some of the steelworkers I used to pub hop with years ago would do – there wouldn’t be one of them with a natural smile again or the ability to walk with out a slight limp

  3. Lack of a pummeling aside – (would your union bro’s be able to catch the hipster doofus cycle activists to give them their pummeling?) the hipster doofus cycle activists got what they had coming.
Just like the hipster who in 2004 wouldn’t shut up at a John Kerry event and got tazed by security inspiring the slogan of the moment “Don’t taze me bro!”, everyone wants the glory of Taking it to the Man(TM) without actually having to go to jail or get tazed or get their beat down/be held for police. The Black Lives folks took the fame (including the local NAACP Presidency) but don’t want to pay the fine for their MOA shenanigans.
Welcome to the 21st Century – where “Letter from Birmingham Jail” has become a Reddit AMA regarding police ‘brutality’ on hipster doofuses.

  4. You know I watched the video captured at the time, and noted a lack of pummeling being captured by the video. I did hear a threat of arm breaking, but didn’t see any beat down occurring.

  5. Hilarious! They believe that being a “loveable goofball” allows them to assault people without fear of repercussions!
I bet that there some “loveable goofballs” skinheads who’d like to drive around and hit minorities and mixed-race couples with a blast from a super-soaker.

  6. I wonder if the Critical Mass riders would consider it assault if at their next traffic-stopping ride they were met with enfilade fire from soakers along their route?

  7. OK, even apart from the illegal nature of what they did, one would think that maybe, just maybe, they’d consider the risk to their own lives from the various directions they might have to flee from a group of drunks they’d just assaulted. I teach my kids about the dangers of dashing across busy streets from toddler age. Apparently these guys didn’t get the memo.
