One can suppose this initial strike made real Trump’s tweeted threat. But if there are no follow-on second and third strikes to actually degrade Assad’s forces in some significant way, then it will be just appeasement as usual by the western allies with regard to Syria.
Will these allied military operations actually raise the cost to Assad, Russia, and Iran?
Air strikes without ground intervention is not serious use of military force to achieve a political objective.
This hardly matters in Syria since no discernible political objective has ever been articulated.
