Darn Those White Conservative Christians

Orlando murderer Omar Mateen – a man who seems to have mixed sexual confusion and extreme millenarian Islam on his way to becoming the worst mass-shooter in US history – was giving off warning signs even in childhood:

At age 14, he said he could shoot an AK-47 and mimicked an airplane flying into the World Trade Center. At 26, he bragged to courthouse co-workers of terrorist ties. Weeks ago, at 29, Mateen sought to buy heavy-duty body armor and bulk ammunition.

Many of his violent outbursts aped or celebrated Islamic terrorism and he repeatedly claimed connections to known terrorists, including the Boston Marathon bombers. He cheered the 9/11 attacks on the day they happened and once threatened to shoot partygoers at a barbecue when pork, which is forbidden to Muslims, touched his hamburger.

Bear in mind that Mateen passed not one, but eight background checks:

So let’s walk through this from the beginning:

  1. Mateen spends his entire life as a vocal terror sympathizer.  He also meets all the right people – has contact with other known terror figures, the whole nine yards.
  2. The feds investigate him at least twice.  Maybe they found nothing.  Maybe political pressure led then to foreshorten their inquiry; maybe to avert accusations of “profiling” they took their resources to investigate NASCAR drivers in Alabama.  We don’t know, and probably never will.
  3. Mateen passes eight of the background checks that are the “common sense regulation” that the orcs of Big Gun Control want to subject the law-abiding citizen to – which is further evidence that they don’t care about crime, but do want to register gun owners.
  4. Mateen – who was either in the midst of a struggle over sexuality, or was adopting a “gay” cover to case gay bars for his attacks – becomes enough of a regular figure in Orlando gay bars to not arouse notice.
  5. For their part, the State of Florida made all bars “gun free zones”; every victim at “Pulse” was, by law, disarmed.     While gun owners in many states – the states where “gun free zones” are treated as trespassing rather than misdemeanors or worse – routinely ignore “gun free zone” signs, nobody at “Pulse” apparently did.

Oh, yeah.  It just must be the fault of Christian NRA members.

    more than a few people are pointing out that the inattention on the part of the FBI could have been intentional – a passive false-flag operation that will happen “spontaneously”, erupting sooner rather than later, and will serving the political narrative admirably when it does. Kinda like Fast & Furious only more sophisticated especially since Govt NewSpeak doesn’t allow the discussion to include the words “Islamic terrorism”, substituting instead terms like “workplace violence”.

You can’t make this stuff up. Even when the system works libturds are not satisfied. It is a complete repeal of the 2nd amendment and guns for criminals only for them, or nothing at all.

    Mitch, did you not hear? Mateen had nothing to do with islam. Just look at the call transcript release by JD. Not a word about islam or ISIS. Never happened. Ergo he must have been a white conservative Christian.

    What Katie Couric edited video to make gun owners look idiotic, that was Bad. But when Loretta Lynch edits audio to make gun owners look dangerous, that was Good. Because when a government bureaucrat does something, that automatically makes it right.

    This is a double-edged attack, a “heads-I-win-tails-you-lose” coin.

    Everyone should pass a background check before buying a gun.
    He did pass a background check so he legally bought the gun.
    Well, then, background checks don’t work so we should just ban guns.

    Might want to focus on WHY background checks don’t work, try to make them more effective, rather than fuel the gun-ban fire.

    I can forgive fascination with totalitarians as a kid–a lot of kids will take to the red star or swastika in their youth and have to be educated to have them grow up–but when I read about his adult behavior, it strikes me that all this was things that would have prevented him from getting a gun legally if people had only taken action on it. Threatening to shoot someone because bacon touched his burger. Beating up his ex-wife. The discussion of terrorist ties, etc..

    Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but every once in a while you can use it to get foresight.

    Allow a brief related tangent?
    With the PRIDE Festa coming up this weekend, the smart move for those celebrating would be to run down to the local firearms mart (I think this small yet prominent regional blog recommends Gander Mountain – tell ’em MBerg & the NARN sent you!) and pick up a symbol of your full & equal rights under the 2nd Amendment to protect your person and property without government interference. Now, don’t forget there may be a waiting period and you will want to consult with a CCW instructor (again, MBerg can give you advice here) before tucking that Glock (be it a handgun, signal flare or long gun style type of Glock) into your chaps.
    Just kidding on that last part – but seriously; with the Obama Admin signaling that if it’s choice between gay people and (REDACTED) people, it’s going to side with the anti-NRA people. In other words – you are on your own. Good luck! Make good choices!
    PS: Alcohol & guns don’t mix. “Hold my beer and watch this” is an equal opportunity Darwin Award category whether it’s a PBR at WE-Fest or a Surly Furious at the PRIDE Festa.

    I saw a piece yesterday that there have been significant numbers of people that identify as LGBT, have been buying guns and signing up for CC classes. I even heard a couple of them calling in to Joe Pags show and stating so. What’s better? They said that among their peers, they were appalled that the Democrats did not observe the moment of silence in congress and that they won’t call Omar a terrorist, yet Trump did. All three claimed that Trump picked up supporters from their respective groups.

    Boss,

    I had a gay carry permit instructor…well, OK, a permit instructor who is gay – on the NARN on Sunday. And while he points out that for some, coming out as a shooter is more traumatic than coming out as gay (in the Twin Cities, I don’t doubt it), it’s a definite surge.
