I suspect that’s one of the radionaliztions batted around the Strib, WCCO and MPR newdsrooms after learning that questions about the ethics of pouring “consulting“ money into a firm owned by her husband, Omar has been spending a lot less on consultants:

A lot.

Fox News is reporting that Rep. Ilhan Omar’s campaign has paid out comparatively little in consulting fees after cutting ties with a firm co-owned by her husband.

According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings reviewed by the outlet, Omar’s payments to political consultants fell to around $1 million during the 2022 midterm election season.

That is a two-thirds decline from the nearly $3 million she had paid to E Street Group, a firm co-owned by her husband, Tim Mynett, during the 2020 election cycle, when she faced a far less competitive primary challenger.

By the way, they’re referring to her current husband. Not the guy who was no way, no how her brother, you racist.

Its a safe bet she’s amassed a great deal of valuable information about international players from her time on the committee which she could use Clinton style to set up a speaking tour where she picks up a $250k fee for every appearance.
Of course there’s a book deal in the works
And she’s got an activist daughter who could run for and “win” her seat in congress.

Once she is out of office, Omar loses political protection from her immigration crimes. And in the part of the world where she is from, politics is a family business. So look for her to install a relative in her seat when she leaves it.
I do wonder how Slow Joe is managing his son’s addiction. If H Biden falls off the wagon, it would be an unimaginable disaster for “pops.” If I had to guess, I would say that you will never see crack-addled Hunter Biden again. If he begins to indulge his addiction, H Biden will die from a drug overdose.
All Americans should be interested in who is buying H Biden’s paintings, and for how much. This is simple due diligence, given H Biden’s widely acknowledged past practice of trading on his father’s influence & the entanglement of Hunter’s and Slow Joe’s finances.

I think it’s worthwhile to mention that by all appearances, Mogda-B, is going to be a power.

First of all, she’s moderate-to-good looking, crafty if not smart, lies well and without guilt, and she’s played multiple systems adroitly. But more importantly, she is now ensconced in the DNC as an ultra-reliable, up-and-coming player.

Senator? Sure. VP even. I don’t know if the country is ready for a Somali President, but Biden, Kamala, Fetterman, et al seems to be proof that no physical or mental condition is too extreme. Why not nationality – oh, wait, I’ll bet the DNC is, even now, working on physical proof that she was born and raised in Cedar-Riverside. Or Hawaii.

Regarding Omar and Mynett, it’s worth noting that the big payments to the E Street Group were in 2020, when Omar took in about $5.5 million of campaign funding in a safe district, but in 2021-2, her “take” dropped to $3 million overall. She dropped the firm once there was public outrage at the spending, and her current partner firm is said to be separate from Mynett. Said to be–I visited Mynett’s LinkedIN page, and he’s got a number of irons in the fire.

What else I know about Mynett is that his ex wife is a pediatrician (average income $300k/year) who had supported his political endeavors financially, and from that, we can guess he didn’t totally “make bank” by dropping his sugar momma. I have to wonder if the arrangement was “I direct campaign expenses to you and you buy us a home” between Ilhan and Tim.

My best guess is that the payments stopped more or less because major donors found the situation embarrassing, and moreover because Omar knew it could lead to credible challengers. But proving wrongdoing is going to require an FBI that is interested in figuring out whether Mynett’s charges were reasonable, and thus whether it was legal or money laundering. Not holding my breath on that one.
