Just in time for Black History Month, Amazon scrubs references to one of the most accomplished black men in America today. Clarence Thomas’s bio-doc has been disappeared:
Amazon appeared to drop the PBS title, “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words,” while still promoting a wide array of feature films under the category of Black History Month such as “All In: The Fight For Democracy,” with Stacey Abrams and two movies on Anita Hill, Thomas’ accuser of sexual misconduct who attempted to derail his confirmation. All come free to stream with a Prime membership.
The Thomas documentary released in January last year remains available to purchase on DVD. A simple search for “Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words,” comes up short for the title however. To find it, users must include “DVD” in the search box, and the documentary will come up as the 10th result. A search for “RBG” on the other hand, will bring three documentaries on Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s documentary to the top after promoting a sponsored post of her biography, “Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.”
Amazon did not immediately respond to The Federalist’s request for comment.
You can probably fill in the kicker I usually write after the pullquote yourself – our monthly observance of all things Afro-American should be retitled “Month With History Of The Correct Black Americans”.
Speaking of Amazon, it apparently allowed Wayne Campbell to redesign its logo to one that subliminally reminded people of Hitler. Fortunately the hijacking was thwarted before millions of Amazon customers began to goose step and spray paint swastikas everywhere.
I saw this story and could not think of a better recommendation, so I bought it and watched it on Vudu.
It was really good.
I’m waiting for the obligatory, automatic reminder from others that “Amazon is a private company”, as if that fact means we’re not allowed to criticize them for a boneheaded move.
doc, I can’t help but notice that just about everything left is involved in is driven by subliminal, illogical, hateful, unscientific and imaginary forces. Do you have a diagnosis?
Slightly off topic, the more I see of Clarence Thomas, the more I like him. His originalism beats Scalia’s textualism by a wide margin, IMO, because he’s taking into account what those who wrote the law would have thought about the pending application, instead of reading things into the law that those who wrote it would have found ridiculous.
Was it cancel culture when National Review fired John Derbyshire? Or dropped Ann Coulter’s column? Or when William F. Buckley tried to kick the Birchers out?
You should really learn to think critically, Emery.
“Canceling” is your career is over. Derbyshire & Coulter were free to work for anyone else. Losing a column at NR is not remotely the same as being unable to work in your field, ever.
You know those treats to keep Trump officials from working for anyone with the explicit threats of secondary boycotts?
That is “canceling.”
