Shot in the Dark

Agenda

Joe Doakes, formerly of Como Park, emails:

Notice the list of priorities does NOT include: “Build The Wall and Make Mexico Pay For It.”

Nor does it include: “StopPissing Away Money in Ukraine.”    “Lock Up Criminals” is mostly a local issue but then, so is abortion (now that Roe v. Wade is gone).   And I don’t know one single person who favors canceling student loan debt, not even the people making payments on their student loans, who routinely tell me, “I paid my loans, they can pay their loans.”

Comparing this list of priorities to mine, I have to ask: how far out of touch with reality am I?

Who, indeed, is out of touch?

More on that next week.

I don’t think you two get it – or you’re being disingenuous. McCollum is very much in touch with the people who vote her into office (every other) year after year. And that is ultimately the only reality for a politician.

This has been the Democrats’ list of priorities for at least 30 years (bus rides to Canada anyone?). It’s too bad that Americans are, collectively, too dumb to realize that the Democrats’ solutions have only exacerbated the problems every time they take control.
It’s also too bad that Republican Politicians are too timid to actually fix the problems any time they take control. (At least Republicans aren’t promising to repeal ObamCare anymore.)

You know, Smith, it might be fun to put together The SITD Platform. Ask candidates to support our platform. What would the planks be?

    1. Change US foreign policy. Our foreign policy goal as a nation should be: “Peace, commerce and honest friendship with all; entangling alliances with none.” To further that goal, we should withdraw from the United Nations as a worthless waste of time and expense, recall US forces from Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and end all foreign aid. Before we take any action abroad, we should ask: “Does this put the interests of America first?” If not America first, then who?

    2. End the federal reserve. It’s a complete failure. Its sole mission was to provide a stable currency but after more than 100 years of bad decisions, our currency is worth less than ever. The fact US currency is strong against some foreign currencies is not an endorsement of our system, it’s an indictment of theirs, which are even worse. Right now, our currency is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States which is another way of saying the value of the dollar depends on the promises of politicians. History teaches us that politicians can’t be trusted to keep their promises, it’s too tempting to water down the currency or inflate away the value, exactly as they’re doing now. Money which fulfills its essential purposes – to act as a store of value as well as a medium of exchange – must be freely convertible to a tangible asset: Gold. Silver. Platinum. Palladium. The biggest mistake Nixon made was going off the gold standard. Correct that mistake.

    3. Okay, your turn. What else?

Betty McCollum is so stupid, she has to be reminded six times a minute to breathe.

    Ok What else?

    Bring economic Darwinism to the public school system;
    a) dismantle and ban ALL public employee unions
    b) grades K-9 will be focused solely on Reading, Writing, and Math
    c) for every child that fails to read, write, and do math at grade level the teacher loses $1,000.00 of their annual salary, for every child performing above grade level they get an additional $500.00
    d) consistent below grade level results(3 years) will be grounds for termination of the teacher and revocation of their license.
    e) Grade Level standards will be set by local elected school boards NOT by education experts(their role will be strictly advisory)

All canceled Student Debt is to be treated as Earned Income by state and federal revenue agencies and taxed appropriately.
