Make Orwell Fictional Again

I swear, it’s not the Babylon Bee:

https://twitter.com/GavinNewsom/status/1611517218944319488

I’ll spell it out for DFLers:

California might arguably be freer when it comes to some social behaviors, but in most areas—starting and operating a business, pursuing work, building housing, educating our kids free from government control—it is unquestionably among the nation’s least-free states.

Our tax rates are so high that Californians mainly are free to work longer hours to pay for a modicum of mostly shoddy services. Keeping the money one earns is in some ways the ultimate freedom issue. Is Newsom unaware that our population is declining—as people flee our sunny clime and magnificent scenery for Godforsaken places such as Nevada and Oklahoma?

Newsom demonstrates what PJ O’Rourke said: to Republicans, freedom means freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, keeping and bearing arms; to Democrats, it’s the right to wave your private parts around in public.

Of course, if the actual goal is to debase the language – to make “freedom” a synonym for “the stifling reassurance of government control” – then Newsom probably is on the right track.

And Tim Walz is doing a fine job of emulating him.

It all seems to be OK for the people still living there in CA. I don’t know what your (far-right wing, freedom extremist) problem is.

California’s Freedom to Organize BS called AB5 is so great the DOL wants to take it national. No more gig work for you, unless you work in one of the many industries targeted who were able to buy exemptions.

“California regulators plan total ban on gas stoves, furnaces, water heaters
Last month, state energy officials warned that California likely will have a shortage of electricity this summer equivalent to what is needed to power about 1.3 million homes.”

Mandating the use of energy that is not available, banning the use of resources that are.

Clearly, the ruling elite’s plan is to create a sub population of cave dwellers, roasting insects over dung fires, travelling by foot along paths chosen to keep them away from areas populated by the elite, sniffing one another’s asses along to way to test for availability for sex.

The goal is greater control of individual choice, Blade.
By making everything electric, it is easy to monitor and ration your use of energy.
I have said for years that the purpose of the global warming scam is to build a second economy on top of the free market. People want gas powered cars? Make them cost dollars more than the free market would price them, and make electric cars cost dollars less.
Go to any of those web sites that say that they will help you find ways to lower your carbon footprint, and you will find out that lower carbon footprint == poverty. You will eat less, especially meat, your house will be smaller, you will have fewer children, you will have fewer cars and smaller cars you will drive less, if you have a car at all. Your house will be hotter in the summer and colder in the winter.

    From Hawaii:
Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez will not refile charges against 38 people, mostly kupuna, who were arrested July 17, 2019, on the Maunakea Access Road while protesting the planned construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope.

“After extensive litigation in the original prosecution, dismissal of the cases in 2022 … I have decided that the continued pursuit of these cases is not in the best interests of the people of the state of Hawaii,” Lopez said in a statement Wednesday. “The Department of the Attorney General remains committed to upholding the rule of law, and any violations of state law will remain subject to prosecution to the fullest extent possible.”
    . . .
Gov. Josh Green said he appreciates Lopez’s decision to not refile charges “against our kupuna who peacefully protested at Maunakea three years ago.”

“The time has come to build a new pathway forward that considers all people and is respectful of our host culture,” Green said in the same statement. “This is the kind of justice we want to see for our kupuna, who stood up for what they believe in — their culture and their ancestors.”

Believe it or not, Hawaii, which explicitly discriminates on self-devised racial categories, still considers itself one of the United States.

I imagine that at this minute there are Cali politicians and activists asking why, if “conversion” therapy is illegal in California, why is “detransitioning” legal?

I like the gas stove ban, because if you want to prevent NOx from causing problems, all you do is to install a new range hood that automatically turns on when it detects too much exhaust. Problem solved. The solution to pollution is dilution, as they’ve said for decades.

And as if NOx isn’t a problem with gas fueled power plants. My goodness.
