  1. Where I live, in Polk County, WI, life has been back to normal since last summer. I have not worn a mask since May of last year, so it is sometimes hard to relate to the argument going on between the covid hawks and doves on the paranoid left. Most journalism originates on the east & west coasts, where arbitrary mandates are still enforced. This Politico article tells you what our elites think about “opening up.”

The article contains this quote from one of those “health experts” who are not physicians, Cecelia Tomori. Tomori is an academic anthropologist.
To argue that we should just get on with life because boosted individuals [like David Leonhardt] face relatively low personal risk of death from the virus misses so much. The entire framing is wrong. Infectious diseases are inherently about social interaction.
“Social interaction” is another word for politics.

  2. “Social interaction” is another word for politics.

ie. dictatorial and tyrannical control over people

  3. Science does not contain “oughts.” The “science” of epidemiology is full of oughts, or begged questions. We “ought” to lock down to save lives, for example.

  4. If you wear a KN95 or better, I will believe your mask is more than just virtue signaling. Following the science also means following it when it says it time to ease up.

  5. Last week a school district in California lifted its mask mandates. The next day the teachers refused to report to work because it wasn’t “safe”.

  6. Following the science also means following it when it says it time to ease up

You’re working on something that explains The Science behind this, right?

PS, masks that’re “better” than KN95… do you have examples of these? Cuz in my unmasked and unvaxxed ignorance, I’m thinking self-strangulation might just hit better than 95.

  7. Emery, you have at least seven steps to take to safely wear a N95, including washing hands before and after use, ensuring proper fit, no facial hair…ad nauseam. I doubt if 1 of 100 people wearing n95s use them properly/safely.

  8. The cornerstone of science is that it is auditable. Anyone repeating the experiment will produce the same results..
    Otherwise you have opinion.
Where is the science behind unmasking? I want numbers, not just the opinion of bureaucrats.
Where are the peer reviewed studies that show that you can have a medical procedure done even if you test positive for covid (I know that this is what Twin City hospitals are doing)?

  9. Children please, didn’t you get the memo? For one, presidentish Zhou Bai Den has a State of the Union speech to give. For another, the dempanic helped us fraud the election in 2020, and ending it will help us in the 2022 midterms. So the “science” has changed. Nudge nudge, wink wink. The “science”.

  10. Ha! Funny that in addition to the White House, all of the communist controlled states have suddenly eliminated their maskie mandates in their schools and public buildings, huh Emery?
Just in time for Pedo Joe’s public babble session tomorrow night, so he can take his victory lap for “beating” WuFlu.

  11. Bosshoss, I think that the about-face on masks and school closures was announced because the dems in those states grew hostile to school closures.
