A little bird in the DFL got me this [*] - it's the script for the next TV ad from the Wetterling campaign.:
OMINOUS MUSICSeems pretty harsh to me.FAT PIC OF HASTERT
NARRATOR: "On Thursday, October 5, Dennis Hastert resigned over allegations he'd not only covered up cases of molestation of pages, but enthusiasatically participated.
KENNEDY SWEATY PIC
NARRATOR: "Also, GOP Senate Candidate Mark Kennedy was convicted for his role in the Enron scandal, and sentenced to ten years in prison."
DUBYA PIC
NARRATOR: "And President George W. Bush confessed to blowing up the World Trade Center on September 11, a tragedy that killed thousands of congressional pages."
Republicans; they steal money and kill children. That's a fact.
It's time for a change in Washington.
WETTERLING: "I'm Patty Wetterling, and I approve this message"
No, not really. For the benefit of the overly-tightly-wired community, this is a "parody" satirizing Wetterling's deeply unethical ad campaign.

Thanks for at least putting the parody in quotations.
Parody's are usually funny or at least witty. Your offering was neither
Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 11:32 AMPatty's ads aren't funny, either.
They are, however, laughable.

And goodness knows I look to Doug "Lt. Hauk" Douggenberger when I want humor reviews!
Posted by: mitch at October 6, 2006 12:27 PMUmmmm... ok...?
I would have pegged you as more of a Rex Reed kinda' guy but hey, if you like this Douggenberger fellow...
Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 12:38 PMFrankly, I think how Pathetic Patty is using the memory of her dead son as a political tool is hysterical.
Posted by: Dave at October 6, 2006 12:39 PMOh... and in another fine example of our fast slide toward totalitarian rule...
May I present another Bush executive signing order...

Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 12:42 PMI would say read it carefully but why bother...
"I would have pegged you as more of a Rex Reed kinda' guy "
STILL trying to remember that Latin term that means non-sequitur. Damn.
Posted by: mitch at October 6, 2006 12:46 PMNon-sequitor?
Really?
Humor reviews Mitch... Who is Rex Reed...?
Put the two pieces together Mitch... I know you can do it...
Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 01:18 PMGeez.
Mitch,
I told you where to find this in-formation already: Ask Guildenstern.
Posted by: Bill C at October 6, 2006 01:22 PMI like tacos!
Posted by: LearnedFoot at October 6, 2006 01:29 PMDoug,
There are NO BONES in ice cream.

I was surprised it took you wingnuts this long to start sliming her. Let's see, 9/11 widows, mothers of dead soldiers, now moms who've had their kids abducted - all are fair game to you creeps. I'm glad you slithered from under your rock to post, Dave. As always, it turns out Angryclown's dim view of you kooks is completely justified.
Posted by: angryclown at October 6, 2006 02:27 PMYou forgot Mother Sheehan, just another non-partisan seeker of justice and generous subsidy.
Posted by: Kermit at October 6, 2006 03:17 PMSCRIPT EDIT:
WETTERLING: "I'm Patty Wetterling and I ... um... never mind."
"One television ad for a Minnesota Democrat [Patty Wetterling] featured the scandal, although (U.S. Rep. D-Ill.) Emanuel said the candidate acted on her volition.
'I don't know if this hurts, helps or whatever,' Emanuel said."

Apparently, I have given you FAR too much credit Mitch.
Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 04:27 PMNope. You have not.
The parody WAS funny.
As funny as when everyone piled up and proved you were never an actual "election observer".
THAT was a laugh and a half!
Putz.

Everyone piled up and proved...?
One person, kermit if I'm not mistaken, challenged what I said and I clarified that I was not an "official" election observer.
If that was funny or even entertaining to you, you really need to get out more often.
Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 07:18 PMIt was more than Kermit. There were quite a few.
I get out plenty. But if you think Mitch's parody wasn't funny, it's not MY social life that's at issue.
Posted by: ak at October 6, 2006 07:39 PMI was an 'unofficial' electon observer once in St. Paul! I went to a saloon on W 7th and made sure no Irish ward heeler came in and tried to exchange drinks for votes. Well, to be honest. I can't remember anything after I tried to order a black & tan.
Posted by: Terry at October 6, 2006 09:51 PMOh - speaking of elections... Looks like the Republicans are getting an early start on their fraud attempts.

Posted by: Doug at October 6, 2006 10:46 PMInteresting story, Doug.
Five'll get you ten that when the facts come out, the GOP'll toss the offender under the bus. Good riddance.
As opposed, say, to the way the Wisconsin Democrats defended their widespread fraud to the very bitter end, and STILL refuse to admit complicity.

Five'll get you ten that the GOP already knew about this but got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
And speaking of Wisconsin, let's not forget the GOP tricks like challenge lists proven to be innaccurate dropped 3 days before the elections and mass mailings sent by Republicans to students that gave misleading inf0rmation about where and how to vote.
Also Mitch, in the areas where fraud did take place, votes were still cast for Republicans. I've learned over the last 5 years that anytime a Republican is screaming foul about something, it is usually them who is most guilty of comitting the crime.
There's an old saying in AA. Everytime you point your finger at someone, you've got 3 fingers pointing back at yourself.
Bill Bennett, "Mr. Virtues" has an issue with too much gambling and allegedly likes to get spanked by women dressed in leather...
Newt Gingrich, "shame on Clinton" while married is caught boinking and later marrying his own assistant...
Rush Limbaugh, "Mr. arrest, try and throw in prison every drug user" get's busted for drugs and while still on probation, gets busted for violating prescription abuse. Oh... And also takes a boys only vacation to an island known for it's underage sex trade, male and female by the way, and brings along illegally obtained boner pills...
Mark Foley, "Mr. Child advocate" writes and sponsors the very legislation that is meant to protect children from himself...
I love irony.

You're not making sense, Doug. How is Bennet being unvirtuous if he "likes to get spanked by women dressed in leather"? What if he's been bad?
"I love irony."
Me too, Dougie.
The reason any conservative's failing is always major news is that it allows liberals to engage in their very favorite taunt: Hypocrisy! Hypocrisy is the only sin that really inflames them. Inasmuch as liberals have no morals, they can sit back and criticize other people for failing to meet the standards that liberals simply renounce. It's an intriguing strategy. By openly admitting to being philanderers, draft dodgers, liars, weasels and cowards, liberals avoid ever being hypocrites.
At least Rush wasn't walking into church carrying a 10-pound Bible before rushing back to the Oval Office for "private visits" with Monica Lewinsky. (Evidently, Clinton wasn't a hypocrite because no one was supposed to take seriously the notion that he respected women or believed in God.)
