...and living in North Dakota (where Vikings fans are, if anything, more obnoxious than they are in the Metro), yesterday's game would have kept me deliriously happy for most of the week.
And it still does.
I predict the Bears will take it all this year. Naturally, I've predicted it every year since I was about five. Unlike all you Vikes fans, I've been right once...
Speaking of Vikes fans, I thought this bit was interesting; the Strib's coverage of the game took time and space out to ponder some basic team-character issues:
If teams are best judged by their reaction to adversity, the Vikings have some work to do before they can ascend to the NFL's elite.Hey, publicity is money. Posted by Mitch at September 25, 2006 05:42 AM | TrackBackOn the one hand, Richardson provided a necessary emotional pickup. Center Matt Birk stood tall as well, taking the blame for a fumbled exchange between quarterback Brad Johnson and running back Chester Taylor in the fourth quarter.
The play put the Bears in position to score the winning touchdown, a 24-yard pass from Rex Grossman to Rashied Davis with 1 minute, 53 seconds remaining.
On the other hand, several players inexplicably took time from their postgame routine to complain about a full-page photo of Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher in Sunday morning's Star Tribune. Although the accompanying story chronicled the Vikings' progress on defense -- and, most important, had nothing to do with the outcome of the game -- some Vikings took offense that Urlacher was the visual emphasis.
Mitch - I really hate to disagree with someone who thinks that my beloved Bears will take it all, but unless they figure out how to TACKLE they will not go far! The tackling yesterday was pathetic. Shawn Alexander (RB Saints - next weeks opponent) will run roughshod over the defense if they continue to tackle as poorly as they did yesterday!

We will be ok next week. Alexander's line ain't what it used to be, plus he is a little banged up. The tackling was atrocious, but I have a feeling that will change when we play at home next week. If Grossman cuts down on those bad passes, we should have a good chance of winning.
Posted by: Fulcrum at September 25, 2006 01:13 PMI love how football fans speak in the inclusive... As in...
WE will be ok next week...
or
when WE play at home next week...
and
WE should have a good chance of winning...
Being from Wisconsin, I can safely say, We suck this year...
Posted by: Doug at September 25, 2006 01:47 PMWhatcha bothering with football for? Looks like your Twinkies have an excellent shot at the playoffs.
Posted by: angryclown at September 25, 2006 03:55 PMYeah, but Twins AND Bears is the bifecta!
Posted by: mitch at September 25, 2006 04:49 PMI hope you are right about the tackling Fulcrum, although it looks like my worries about Alexander (out) were a tad premature!
The Twins in the play-offs and da Bears undefeated......the only thing that would make it better would be if the Cubs were in the play-offs.
Oh well maybe next year!
Posted by: The Lady Logician at September 26, 2006 11:18 AMOkay, so they played like crap. Obviously, the problem with the Vikings is . . .
. . . they need a new stadium.
