I took the laptop back to its vendor - a computer superstore who shall remained unnamed, but which relies on acronyms and abbrevations for its title, and which shall henceforth be known as "The Loathsome Vendor".
I'm complaining to the service manager because this laptop has been in the shop six times in 15 months. The computer is, thankfully, under extended warranty - for about 11 more months.
"Well, now you see why people buy extended warranties!"
WHAT MITCH SAID: (Shrug). "OK".
WHAT MITCH SHOULD HAVE SAID: "Because you sell crappy products that self-destruct faster than a Crispin Glover/Kevin Federline inspirational speaking tour?"

Have you been having software or hardware problems?
I am extremely happy with the HP "Compaq nc6220" laptop that my work has assigned me, maybe look into that? Nowadays, I'd say the tossup on what I recommend is between Dell and HP (HP's business laptops) as far as laptops go, altho hopefully Dell has their battery issue straightened out by now.
Posted by: Bill C at August 30, 2006 11:24 AMI have an HP laptop that is a piece of junk! It came from the superstore with a virus already loaded on it AND I have had to replace the motherboard, the power supply and the hard drive and it is just barely 2 years old! The Logical Husband has a Dell that is older than the HP and it has not been in the shop once. Guess where I am going once the extended warranty on the HP expires.....
