Comments...

...are down again. Some sort of error in my MT-Blacklist spamblocker.

Anyone know how to deal with this?

And the first person who says "upgrade to MT3" gets a rhetorical wedgie. I know. Actually, I'm torn between MT3 and Wordpress.

Naturally, both of them are fine tools (or so I'm told); they are also tools only someone who dinks around with Linux modules for fun can install.

Blah.

I'm NOT a Linux geek, and I've successfully installed Wordpress, and even updated it to a new version. Highly recommended.

If you're going to allow comments, choose the blogging software that allows for the easiest, least time consuming method of managing them. I think Wordpress is inferior to MT in this regard.

I'll risk the wedgie, Mitch -- go for MT 3.2. You might also considering integrating a graphical security code. Check my blog out for an example. I have been able to completely turn off comment moderation and blacklisting with that.

I use WordPress with Askimet which does all the spam trapping automatically. MT's gotten too expensive and too difficult to set up for my tastes. Wordpress is pretty easy to install and has the developer support that MT used to have. I haven't looked back since switching. MT's good software, but it's nowhere near as simple or as flexible as WordPress is now.
